Spyshots: Mercedes Q5 competitor

Over the weekend while browsing our tremendously over-populated inbox, a faithful reader by the name of John sent us some spy shots of a Mercedes we've never mentioned - the MLK.

The MLK is the newest Mercedes SUV in development, a compact 4x4 that's rumored to be released sometime in 2008. As evidenced from the photos, the MLK will share similar attributes of the soon-to-be released redesigned C-Class, and will likely compete with both the BMW X3 as well as the Audi Q5.

THe top is just a carridge to carry people in at the moment. The SUV is the mechanicals it is sitting on. Curious to see how MB will design this piece....

Hope it looks nothing like the ML or GL.
Both Current MB's SUVs r boring.

But Spies how can we even say it will compete with Q5 as we don't know much about these two upcoming Vehicles (Q5 and MLK).

It's all way too early.

But, here's the new slogan:

Just kidding, of course.

Look nate, in europe, especially Germany Audi out sells both companies, BMW and MB. Most MB's in europe are taxies which I have seen first hand. The build quality, fit and finish is hands down the best. The reason tyou see so much Audi here is because they are awakening the market. Much like TV you don't like what you see change the channel. By the way I used to work for MB and now work for Audi as I too have awakend. And the Q5 will be a reality when this thing hits so it's fair to compare. Also we had out Grand Opening for our New Audi Hanger facility here in LA and had a Q7 on our showroom. Speak on what you know nate.

An SUV with no visible D-Pillar? Looks like some sort of jacked up C-Class? Hmmm, by it's profile looks like a "four door coupe"

Since when did a saloon have that much ground-clearance?

Just because it looks like a saloon, it is quite probable that they are testing the MLK platform, disguising it with a C-Class body.
