PHOTO GALLERY: 00R Has A 'FIESTA' Photographing This Sure To Be HOT Car From Ford
00R made a hasty departure from Tennessee and his encounter with the Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet to the city by the bay and the redwood forest to test and shoot the new 2011 Ford Fiesta.

We cannot provide any driving opinions due to an embargo, which will lift on 4/26, but as always we have brought you the first detailed photographs of the car.

Make sure to take a look through the gallery and let us know what you like/dislike most/least about the Fiesta.

Wow, that is a nice looking car. Not unexpected, with the previous Focus and current Focus and Fiesta looking great as well. Ford has a really nice looking range of cars now. I just don't like the Fiesta logo. It looks out of place in such a sophisticated and well designed car (look at the 4th and last pictures).

I really like the 5-door. These European-origin Fords are really nice and I'm glad Ford is not changing them too much for the N.A. mkt. My guess is that if Ford had done this from the 80s, Ford would be in much better position now; but what-if notions aside, it's good to see the Ford cars that the N.A. mkt deserve to see.

Ford did do some of this in the 80s with the ill fated Merkur cars but obviously they didn't fare well.

I too like the Hatch styling a lot, can't say the sedan looks as nice though.

We can assume this will have the efficient, powerful eco boost engine, this would be a very practical commuter.

This I believe will raise the bar for the competition. Consider the current lineup:

Nissan Versa
Chevy Aveo
Honda Fit
Toyota Yaris
Scion Xa, Xd?
VW Polo (not available in US)

The lineups of some do offer both a sedan and hatch version (Yaris and Versa). However they keep cheap cheap so to speak. There is not much offered in terms of difference between base and loaded models. A few enhancements, maybe some navigation or alloy wheels. But after building a Fiesta for fun on the website, you can see how much they offer. Sure this car can get into the low 20's price range, but look at what you get, the sophistication and feature list is comparable to midsize and higher class cars.

I think Ford hit the nail on the head and the next generations of the ones mentioned above need to be completely updated and redesigned to compete. Not to mention if Ford offers choices of engines (say a small ecoboost with some extra oomph) then I expect the others to catch up quickly.

its odd though their Ford brand products have really improved greatly and of quality that is better or on par with most of the competition, yet their Lincoln brand lags behind its competitors odd

This Fiesta set the bar high in Europe on launch, and still remains a class leader (with exception of Polo - who trumps it on value and perceived quality, although Fiesta is still dynamically the class best).

I really like this car and I normally hate little econoboxes. Its about time that someone designed one right.

91z4me - I recall specifically the Merkur and I liked it then (Euro name was XrR4Ti I believe) and was very disappointed it didn't take off.
bmwdrvr - very interesting comment on the Lincoln saga, you're right, that's odd. Perhaps Lincoln is such an American-centric image that the other Ford global units don't have anything to contribute. Either that or the Americana designs are no longer in vogue.

I live in the UK and I'm now on my 3rd (!) one of these. They are great little cars, excellent handling and refinement and performance depending on engine size.
My latest one has terrific Audio that plays from USB stick, mp3 on CD and even via Bluetooth from my phone ... o, and my kids iPod via USB or jack plug. What more do you need ?
