Bmw 5-Series Echo Concept coming to Beijing

According to the latest reports, Bmw will unveil a 5-Series electric concept car at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show. Based on the Long-Wheelbase (LWB) 5-Series and dubbed ‘Echo’, the new car was developed by Bmw and Tongji University.

For the moment there are no details available as the car is going to be officially revealed tomorrow but it is described as being “built in China, by China, and for China” by Bmw.

BMW never wanted to make LWB 5 series, but since only "big" 5 series can sell well in China, its worthy making it for BMW.

All the manufacturers make LWB versions for the chinese market - there is even a LWD Passat from VW.
