Are Pigs Flying? A GREEN Humvee Could Be On The Way

Are Pigs Flying? A GREEN Humvee Could Be On The Way
The New York Times reports:

A green trajectory can involve twists and turns. Take TPI Composites, now based in Phoenix, which started out building yacht hulls but branched out into blades for wind turbines and then into bus bodies. The buses were thousands of pounds lighter and therefore more fuel-efficient.

Now TPI is beating a plowshare into a sword, so to speak, by setting out to supply the Pentagon with a composite Humvee.

A lighter Humvee would yield better fuel economy, allowing the military to apply the savings elsewhere...

I would be concerned on how it would stand up in crash tests, is the composite the frame too? I would be concerned if it were the frame too. Although light is good.

What a redundant piece of crap; lighter, hybrid or otherwise.

That is the PC thing to say, why is it a piece of crap? Other than it is bad on gas? There are other vehicles as bad on gas, but the PC police hasn't advertised them yet, It is geared more for the desert but still good off road, it is hard to compare anything on the market with the H-1.Again I am not a huge fan, but I hate hearing PC parroting.
