LEAKED: Saab's 9-5 Estate, A Reality
Autocar reports:
The Saab 9-5 estate appears to have been confirmed for production, after being spied in a sales presentation by the company.
Based on GM’s Epsilon II platform, the new 9-5 estate features sleek styling with long, sloping C-pillars and blacked-out A-pillars, to give it an aircraft-like wraparound screen, which is a nod to the company’s aviation past.
It features an airy, open cabin and a sleek, coupe-like profile, similar to the Vauxhall Insignia, while there are LED lights at the rear...

Why is it that the automotive journalists of the world keep flogging this dead horse that is SAAB's aircraft heritage? In the grand scheme of things, SAAB is a seriously small player in the aircraft industry. BMW, Rolls-Royce and Mercedes have aviation histories that go back to WWI and still build aircraft engines today. Kawasaki, Mitsubishi, and Daewoo all currently build aircraft. The majority of Americans have never seen a SAAB aircraft and if they have they would have been very disapointed. The prop-driven SAAB 340s that Northwest Airlink and a few others used to fly are not paragons of virtue. They need to just lay off that crap now.
