SPIED: Audi's Upcoming A7 Nabbed At The 'Ring

AutoExpress reports:

...Under the bonnet, customers will be able to choose between a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 with 268bhp or a naturally aspirated V8 putting out 372bhp. There will also be a choice between a V6 and V8 TDI engines, boasting similar power to their petrol counterparts.

The A7 is based on the same chassis as the new A8, but will be a sportier 2+2 four seater and will make its world premiere in Moscow in August, before hitting show rooms next year...

It will be very intersting to see it against the CLS and Grand Coupe of BMW (which looks more than a conventional sedan with almost the same dimensions as the Cadillac Seville STS 1997).

Pay particular attention to the profiles. The Gran Coupe is the LEAST sedan-like looking "four door coupe" of the four. In silhouette the Gran Coupe looks like a stretched 6-Series coupe (long nose, cabin towards the back, short greenhouse bubble compared to the others), while the others (including the A7) look like exactly what they are -- four door sedans.

Shape is shape, bias has nothing to do with it. The only "four door coupe" (in quotes both times because there is no such thing) that's more coupe-like in its shape than the Gran Coupe is the Aston Martin Rapide.

The grand coupe has one of the best looking profiles on a sedan that i have yet to see. The A7s profile makes it look the hunchback of Ingolstadt. The driver is probably taking it back to its bell tower.

The BMW Grand Coupe will not be in showrooms for at least another 1 year. The Audi A7 will make its official debut this August with deliveries starting by end of 2010.

Audi will have a nice jump start on the market.
