Toyota Sequoia Falls Victim To Recall Bandwagon For Sudden DECELERATION Issues
Toyota Motor Corp. plans to recall about 50,000 2003 Sequoia SUVs today -- the latest in a string of recalls, The Detroit News has learned.

The recall of the full-sized SUV, to be announced today, comes 16 months after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation. It had received 50 complaints over sudden unexpected braking or slowing of the vehicles.

NHTSA opened an investigation into 68,000 2003 Sequoia vehicles in December 2008 and upgraded it to an engineering analysis in April 2009.

There is only 1 "C" in deceleration.

It's not a recall. It should be called "You drive a HUGE SUV and when you take your foot off the gas it slows down faster than a Prius."

Read the article, the issue is again about toyota's stability control system. The steering angle sensor is activating the stability control at low speeds, this causing the brakes to engage.

" 'During the activation of either system, the driver loses throttle control and one or more brakes may apply, causing the vehicle to slow suddenly,' NHTSA said in a filing. 'During these activation events, the brake lights are not illuminated to signal to following traffic that the vehicle is slowing.' "

OMG!

I remember someone here on autospies saying, that Toyota will become the next GM. I was smiling and thought: Never.

Now I sit here and think: Maybe.

Toyotas problem is, that they at some point stopped copying the Germans. They were used to: Let the Germans develop something, than Toyotas engineers took it apart, improved it a little bit where necessary, because they could see what problems the Germans had with it, and then they brought it to the market under their own name.

But, and here the trouble starts, one day Toyota decided to be groundbreaking by itself and its own developments, and from there, things seem to go crazy.
