Rumor: Bmw X4 in the works?
As you may know already, the Bmw X6 was an immense success for the German brand and the firm sold more than 80,000 units since its launch, back in 2008.

Now here is the good news: it appears the Bmw is currently thinking at a smaller car in the same mould as the X6 which could be named X4. The bad news is that the car didn’t receive green light for production yet, but according to our sources, there is a small chance to see this car on the streets.

Note To BMW... At this point, all you're doing is diluting your marque's previous mystique and prestige.

Please Stop!

It's just a car company. And there are lots of buyer's for Today's BMWs, even though it's not you and me. In other words, what we don't care for, someone else does.

If Porsche can uh hem "reengineer" a VW toureg, and put a V6 in a 4 door hatch and call it a 75,000 porsche BMW simply making more models wont hurt anything..

steaves correct there will be no prestige in a brand like BMW if everyone on the block has one.

uaw_lax says "steaves correct there will be no prestige in a brand like BMW if everyone on the block has one."

I don't think "steaves" is saying that. And besides, look at Harley-Davidson to see "common as dirt" ubiquity combined with the highest levels of popularity and desirability.

You are way off base with this comment: "...if everyone on the block has one"?!

BMW 1 series was specifically made so that EVERYBODY ON THE BLOCK could afford one. HELLO, BMW has been trying to move into the "affordable" market for years. Have you forgotten that said venture called the 318t in the late 80's early 90's? BMW sees how much VW is making as a value brand and wants to do the same. BMW is a business. No differently, Mercedes is also trying to introduce more affordable models.

Business is business and if BMW can make more money, more power to them. I for one look forward to the X4 because the X6 is way too heavy for the I6 turbo.

I think an X4 would sell like CRRRAAZZY!

Imagine a clean diesel version....

I'm going to save this blog. In two or three years AFTER they release this car, there will be plenty of incentives/rebates. What STUPID idea. Who needs a smaller version of the X6. (Put this in the same class idea as that UGLY Honda Crosstour). I own a BMW (and an Audi). As a loyal owner who enjoys my Bimmer, we don't need another silly vehicle similar to the X6.

"I think an X4 would sell like CRRRAAZZY!"

And thats exactly what it takes to dilute a brand and ruin prestige. soon high school students across America will be able to say "Check out my bimmer"

Great news this is a great choice for me because is cheaper and I love the X6 design.

If they make this it will not look like a smaller X6. It will be completely and utterly distinctive and interesting, like all their cars. I think you're confusing BMW with Audi.

I think current X line up is more than enough. They have X5, X6, X1 and new X3 coming soon. No place for any other X other than maybe a full size GL/LX570 rival.

I do not consider it as a success....i agree with gkearns56 cause you'll have to wait at least 4 years when all system start to fail on tha car and the warranty is over. Most of the people that buy a SUV or whatever it is, will buy it for practical reasons, if a car is just for fun then it won't have value on the market very soon....I do not want to see it but the sales of the X series will stall very soon just because the car is useless, heavy, expensive and ugly. X4 will be smaller than the X5....so it will look like VW?...Please BMW follow the path of the 5 or Grand Coupe..do not put the brand at risk..We beg.

I like it- with Land Rover coming out with the LRX next year for around 50k it will be good to see a Bimmer competitor.

Both the MDX and Lexus RX have been owning this spot for years- its about time BMW stepped up and takes them head on. Just the thought of a fully equipped X4 with the N55 engine and a smaller X6 type body (though honestly I don't know how much smaller you can get than an X6)is superb....

By your logic they bigger failure is the Lexus LX they only sold 314 in March. I wonder if Toyota will stop building them.

Have you priced a X6 the vast majority sell for 70K to 80K up to 100K (M) I call that the same price arena.

And by the way the GX is a brand new model.
