VIDEO: Chris Harris Gives A Shakedown, Ferrari 458 Italia Vs. Porsche 997 MK2 GT3 RS
One of the world's most experienced supercar reviewers, without question, is Chris Harris. And when he speaks, you have to give him some credit because he's driven just about everything you've dreamed about.
Now, he's put together a review of Porsche's 997 MK2 GT3 RS and Ferrari's all-new 458 Italia. Both are remarkable performers in their own respect, but which is the one with more character, precision and an all around blast?

lol, Chris is torn between a car that likes to go sideways, and a car that drives for him.

As gorgeous as the 458 Italia is, I'd have to pick the Porsche. I still have the mentality that a true sport car has a third pedal... and until that's taken from me completely, I'm sticking to it. The GT3 is definitely the more competent car, but the 458 is going to get you more tail for sure.

Not sure what Chris is trying to do here. Comparing a top of line, track ready 911 to an entry level, pimpy Ferrari? At least wait for the Scuderia for Christ's sake! Of course you got this ending shot of tail-happy P vs driver-entering-corner-kinda-early F. The latter probably even still have DSC on....

Its such a hard decision. At this level, I don't see how you can make a decision since both of these cars are just different beasts! One lives on the track, and is more than capable on the roads. One lives on the roads, but lacks nothing on the track.
The Ferrari comes off with so much emotion, so much passion, so true to "Ferrari's" emotional appeal, whereas the Porsche is so "German" if you will, that it seems calculated, straight to the point, so technical. But as the Chris Harris points out, its funny how its actually the opposite.
After all is said and done, my pick goes to the Porsche, just because of my personal bias for the Porsche, though I would not hesitate to grab a 458 if I had a chance.

One thing is for sure, the Ferrari is the much better looking car. Comparing the everyday Ferrari to the track-ready Porsche in terms of driving, I am not so sure about that.

I am now a Porsche owner so I may be bias. However these two cars are awesome cars. I have the turbo model not this GT3 model (which sounds better than mine). Both are equally as respectable on pavement but it's the flash that a Ferrari is known for. Most people look on the outside not how the experience is. The real enthusiasts will talk about the experience more than the price and the girls they can get.
