Breaking: Porsche 911 GT2 RS coming later this month
If you thought that Porsche has no more surprises for this year it’s time to think again as the German manufacturer is planning to launch later this month the 911 GT2 RS, a hardcore version of their most powerful car available on the market.

The new 911 GT2 RS will be with 90 kg lighter than the standard version and will carry an impressive 620 hp. With this numbers, we have a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, to 200 km/h below 10 seconds

Enough already with ever thinner slicing of the 911 baloney. This one will need two onboard Cray computers to power a Launch Control fast enough to tame the inevitable axel hopp off the line by this RWD set up. Undoubtedly we'll read about how the rear weight demons of prior versions have been tamed (just like we read with every new generation review...)

How about a 400+ hp Cayman RS; wait, no, that would blow away too many 911's

Axle Hop ??

In a Vehicle with the Engine sitting ON/BEHIND the rear Axle ?

I see Physics / Mechanics was not your strong suit at school.

I am the owner of the latest turbo with PDK and is a happy camper. However, with all these GT and RS models coming out it's almost unfair to leave the Cayman out of the mix. A Cayman GT3 RS would be very potent. Slap a Cayman with the same set up as a 911 GT3 and you'll see fireworks go off. Even if it's .2 slower than a 911 it's fine that a Cayman is a powerhouse. IMO

GT2, GT2 RS, GT3 GT3 RS, RS, SR, GTRS42 RS, GTS3 4GTRS?!?!?!?!

Aynthing else we can slap RS or GT on?

I may get some Pep Boyz badges and turn my Matrix XR AWD into an XRGT 4AWDRS-2a. can we get back to just names instead of this out of control alpha-numerics. You need to take an algebra class to understand car names nowadays.

It's worth learning the Porsche model codes. They actually make sense after a while...and after that it won't be annoying.

S = Sport
RS = Racing
C2 = 2WD
C4 = AWD
GT2 = 2WD Turbo
GT3 = 2WD N/A

and so on...

According to a Porsche announcement this car needs 6.58min for one lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with racing slicks. Better call it "GT2 RSRSRSRSRS" ;- )

I agree that it is almost unfair to leave out the Cayman RS treatment. I certainly did not see the GT2 RS coming. And once again Porsche has surprised everybody with their technological prowess. Now they need to bring their know-how to the Cayman and make a Cayman RS and Cayman GT3 RS. That would complete me.
