Bmw will be helped in reducing spendings by… Mercedes-Benz!
According to the latest reports from Automotive News, it appears that Bmw will surpass its goal of reducing spending on components and supplies by an impressive 4 billion euros ($5.2 billion) by 2012… and guess what, it will be helped by a partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

The German manufacturers yielded new projects over the past several months which will help them to reduce spending by 100 million euros a year by 2012. “We can say that from today’s perspective we will certainly and easily reach the 4 billion-euro savings goal, and even significantly surpass it,” said Herbert Diess, BMW’s purchasing chief. Bmw is seeking to raise its profitability as Mercedes-Benz and Audi step up the pressure.

By cutting corners together & not competing? Looks like we need another emerging new force (like what Lexus did 20 years ago) to shake them up once again.

Some of you guys are truly unbelievable... making fun of people who do not share your views. I disagree with the face value presented by this particular BMW-Mercedes “partnership” because there may be more aspirations behind it. Perhaps the emergence of Audi has brought the two brands together momentarily in order to create an overpowering common BWM/Mercedes industrial standard for their own security. This is not the first time that they do such thing together. We need to understand that, in the real world of business, companies need to make sure whatever they do must “appear” right to the public.
