RUMOR: Audi Working On A NEW RS, No, NOT The RS3
Autocar reports:
Audi’s new A7 Sportback is in the final stages of development and insiders now confirm that the four-door coupé will be unveiled at the Paris motor show in September.
UK sales will start in March next year and a V10-powered RS variant will be part of the range.
The A7, pictured here almost undisguised, is the first model based on Audi’s new mid-size platform, which will underpin next year’s seventh-generation A6. The 4950mm-long A7 has been conceived to provide stiff competition to the new Mercedes-Benz CLS, also set to be revealed at the Paris show, and a production version of BMW’s recently unveiled Gran Coupé concept due in 2012...

Thats the clearest spy shot I have to admit I like the overall profile of the car, the front overhangs look a bit long though, should be interesting this is the one Audi ive been looking forward to seeing the final product now if they could just put the V8 diesel from the A8 in this and they would have a competitive car

The front overhang definitely looks long, but it kind of looks like the front is missing something--a splitter, perhaps. I think it's deceptively well camouflaged, still.

Why did Audi stick their corporate front end on a BMW GT 550i? I like the BMW version better because it doesn't hang off of the front of the car so much. The Audi version of the BMW GT looks like a front driver with such a massive overhang.

Audi did do a nice job with the flame surfacing on sides of their GT though.
....it is the sincerest form of flattery.

Audi builds their version of the Porsche Panamera. I'd rather see the work being done a RS3, it's more practical than that thing.

Examining this profile of this test mule makes one thing very clear...
The last generation Pontiac Grand Prix really played a huge part in starting this whole 4-door coupe nonsense.

Can't say I like this. It almost reminds me of a Mazda 6. The final product will proabably look much better.

someone please explain to me, honestly and without flaming, how that's supposed to be a "four door coupe", a la the Aston Martin Rapide, or BMW Gran Coupe. I don't see it. When I look at that photo I see a Panamera, and Porsche isn't marketing the Panamera as a "four door coupe". Don't get me wrong, I think it looks fine and I'd certainly rather have an A7 than an A8 just because the A8 looks so plain outside, but I wouldn't get an A7 because it looks like a coupe -- it doesn't.

the coupe body style is generally associated with a fixed roof, 2 door body style. but the term "coupe" isn't strictly reserved for this setup.
it may also refer to a sedan with an abbreviated roof line. this instance has become more popular in the past couple years, particularly with those dang fancy-pants germans.
i can relate to your perspective. and i'll tell ya bobby, don't be afraid to see what you see. you've got a keen eye.
