STUD or DUD: Will You Be Running To Your Dealer For BMWs Mille Miglia Z4?
It is not everyday that BMW gets the chance to celebrate the 70 year anniversary of its victory at Mille Miglia. And, if you've seen the Mille Miglia concept vehicle with an immense amount of retro design details, that was merely BMW warming up the oven.

With the arrival of the 2010 Z4 sDrive35iS will be a special edition run of the Mille Miglia Z4. Less than 100 will be built and it will feature plenty of cosmetic enhancements to ensure you stand apart from the other iS'.

With that said, we have to ask:

STUD or DUD?

BMWBlog reports:

In order to celebrate 70 years from the Mille Miglia victory back in 1940s with Fritz Huschke von Hanstein and Walter Baumer driving a BMW 328 MM Touring Coupe, BMW announced a new variant of the new E89 2010 Z4 sDrive35is: Limited Edition Mille Miglia.

To keep this model very exclusive, BMW will only build 99 units, each coming with a Polaris Metallic matte finish, blacked out front grill, an M aerodynamic kit and 19-inch wheels finished in Dark Chrome. The Mille Miglia branding will be displayed both on the inside and outside the Roadster.

The interior design gets a sporty treatment with leather and Alcantara red stitching. The M Steering Wheel gets an update as well by adding red stitching around it...

I'm indifferent, neither loving it nor hating it.

Purely cosmetic? I'll pass. At least add an extra 10 HP, or something...

An extra $10K (a guess) for a limited edition vanity project is a bit silly. Now the car is going to cost more than a well appointed M3. Hmmm...

It says it will add 40HP and 69 torque! what are you talking about? read the article.
I love the interior. I wish I could get that on my 335i and bump the HP and torque the same!

Yeah, I'd actually prefer it without stupid red arrows on it everywhere.

Lexus special editions? I've never seen the appeal of the "Pebble Beach" BS that Lexus offers.

At least with the name Mille Miglia you can associate victories for BMW and Mercedes with that event. If BMW and Mercedes were to offer more "Mille Miglia Special Editions" then at least it would be something for people to relate to. It's a special edition based on a historical event that is meaningful to the firm.

Would I buy one? No. Do I see why some people would? Yes.

I don't think they have enough oddly placed red arrows on the car. Need to add a few to the wheels and the windshield to complete the look.

I gotta have more Mille Miglia stickers. Fellas, I got a fever and the only prescription is more Mille Miglia stickers. I gotta have more Mille Miglia stickers, baby. Hehehe. But seriously, no. It's still just a Z4.

....and I was going to put "gotta have more cowbell" at the end of my comment.

Not only are all the Mille Miglia stickers idiotic, but this lunacy is compounded by adding it to the equally ridiculous, long winded regular name "Z4 S-Drive35is". Now we have "Mille Miglia Z4 S-Drive35is", the "Ultimate Word Count Machine"

How about scrapping all that and call it the Z4 3.5?

As a cosmetic package it's pretty cool, but I think it's a little late in the year to have a 2010 variant launch...

so I have to pay more for a special edition of the Z4 35is, and it comes with the 19" wheels from the regular Z4 35i, not the 19" wheels from the 35is? Hmmm... The interior looks nice though, and I like the blacked out front end items.

The Z4 in general is a stud. This version more so.

I like it. the interior is really nice and I like Matte finish paint. Im usre we would have to see it in person to appreciate it.
I do hate how BMW is overbadging their vehicles. It is unnecessary.
I would actually remove a lot of the badging on the vehicle.

stop messing around and drop the M3's V8 in there!! then you can put whatever stickers on it you want...just put them on the real bumper cause that's all people will see!
