Are Tuners PERFECTING or RUINING Cars?

Are Tuners PERFECTING or RUINING Cars?
There are good cars and bad cars. Compromised cars and cars that are over engineered.

Either way, tuners always find a way to modify, enhance or absolutely destroy a vehicle. The question I have to ask is "are tuners ruining cars?"

Not only are some tunes counterproductive but heinously ugly.

Then there are some tuners, like Novitec Rosso, that provide OEM-looking enhancements while bumping performance appropriately.

But for every good one, it seems there are 10 bad tuners.

What say you, Spies?

MSN Autos reports:

Speed, style and status are still en vogue, at least among adrenaline junkies and those who appreciate the beauty of today's ultraslick "tuner cars." Powerful, sophisticated and awe-inspiring, these magnificent machines started life as a standard sedan, coupe or utility vehicle, only to be transformed by skilled professionals into high-performance demons of the asphalt. The compromises made in the name of mass production have been fixed, aesthetics enhanced, power increased and handling improved, all in the name of performance and to provide a more raw and visceral driving experience. The following collection of rolling thunder represents 10 of the latest and greatest tuner cars from both sides of the pond. Start your saliva glands and get ready to drool....

I have owned Brabus and ABT tuned cars and these two are my favourite.
Others i don't know but i don't like the design modifications of Asma, Lorinser...etc and worst of all is Mansory.

I love Brabus, but I think Carlsson's modifications are more tasteful.

I am in the aftermarket business. And right now TechArt is doing a great job on Porsches. The GTR Street 997 TT is a wow!!! The big 7 in the BMW field, G-power is doing really well. With the Storm package for the F01 760i. Novitec actually made the Ferrari California look more desirable. With subtle tweaks. Can't wait to see what they do with the new Maserati Gran Turismo Cabriolet. Needs a little something, but not much. But most jack up the cars. But whatever makes you happy...

Lazy, they're building upon others' designs and engineering. Lets put shinny big rims and call it our own, Ok. No. I loathe these "tuners", specially when they "alter" a car and call it their own. Design and engineer your own car and then badge it your own. Want a little more horsepower or flashier styling? Ok. But do it and get on the next one. Stop parading it like you're the creator of it all, the car that is.

I think it's cool to admire most of them, but I think in execution it wouldn't be very functional for about 85% of the tuners out there. Some are able to just make minor altercations to enhance what the vehicle already emphasizes, but some change the whole vehicle to the point where it's almost unrecognizable.

Funny reading comments from people who haven't a clue about tuning talk about tuning. LOL!!

If the tuner doesn't know what he or she is doing, they can ruin the car. If they do know what they are doing, then your car will be in a better state of tune than how it came from the factory. And there are individual tuners that do a far better job than the name brand tuners like Dinan, Alpina, etc...
