Preview: 2011 Hyundai Sonata Convertible
With Hyundai’s entry into unexpected market segments in the past year with its Genesis Coupe and Equus, Hyundai is expected to expand its Sonata line.

It’s expected that the shapely sedan would give rise to a coupe and to a convertible as well. Sources say that Hyundai is currently developing the Sonata convertible. This move would be well-timed especially since production for the Toyota Solara has stopped while Chrysler-Fiat is rumored to be thinking about ending the Sebring’s run for good. These renderings show that the droptop Sonata has a simple, cost-effective cloth top with a built-in, body-color tonneau cover. Buyers can opt for a simple windblocker but to make this vehicle more affordable, it’s unlikely that Hyundai will design its own AirScarf system.

You really can't compare the two cars and I think the Lexus IS convertible is a great looking car.

Also, Hyundai are going to kick the crap out of GM, Ford and Chrysler.

And Toyota.

And I am sure you have done an extensive in depth analysis, have driven both models back to back, and that you aren't basing this on nothing more than your personal opinion and bias.

"LOL, sorry that crappy Hyundai is not a competitor to any Lexus. Sure, hyundai copied the profile of the ES/ Solara, but it isn't up to snuff" -Enforcement

"Crappy Hyundai..."? hmm...so, the millions upon millions of recalled Toyotas shouldn't make their brand crappy? Right.

Samsung and LG are kicking the crap out Japanese electronics brands so why can't they do that in automotive? They're doing a good job of that already from what I'm seeing on the roads these days.

Good point. Check out the latest Samsung TVs, and heck, mobile phones. Super AMOLED screen anyone?

"Damn, you fools are sooooo focused on Toyota recalls, you miss all the others.

The Sonata was recalled just days after going on sale. So using your logic, the Sonata is crap too." — Enforcement

Do I hear an echo?

huu. lets talk mobile phones. Samsung is the 1st to release SUPER AMOLED touch screen devices, and their screen is 2nd to none. They were also amongst the 1st to introduce 8 Megapixel cameras on phones, and 12Mp cameras. They were also amongst the 1st to release HD recording.

Rampant speculation as this is, it would make good sense for Hyundai to fill this niche. And, the photoshops do make that Sonata Convertible/Coupe idea look good.

It's a beautiful car and will do Hyundai proud. I would be proud to own it.
