VIDEO: An Exclusive Inside Look At General Motor's, Back In '99
Got approximately 20 minutes? Take a look inside General Motor's design studio, concepts and their proving grounds.
Although it is from a rosier time -- 1999 -- when GM sold 8 million vehicles, it is a very cool look at places where the public does not have access to.
Having walked around the facility, it is a great chance to get an idea of the
real
GM.
The Truth About Cars reports:
Today, we’re setting the way-back machine for 1999 for an ABC “exclusive” behind the scenes of General Motors. Rick Wagoner is in charge, market share is dropping and the Aztek still hasn’t emerged from its camouflage. ah... good days, supposedly. lol
With today's technology, anyone can create cool looking cars on computer and make vehicles that can deal with engine deactivation and voice command with ease - all without weighing the vehicle down with old, chunky computers. It all comes down the long-term reliability, dependability, practicality, intuitiveness, and particularly boldness <-- willingness to build exciting cars to earn the respect. I feel that GM still has a lot of that in themselves with the performance models they've committed to. I'm eager to see what they have planned for the next generation of Yukons, Tahoes/Suburbans, and Escalades!
