Would Hyundai Be Able To Build A Better Pickup Than The Tundra?
Hyundai is considering jumping into the full-size pickup segment, sources say.

A spokesperson for HMA told PickupTrucks.com that adding a pickup truck to its portfolio isn't currently on the company's radar.

Our sources say that it's HMC, not HMA, that's running the research and that they may be doing it without HMA's knowledge.

This isn’t the first time that Hyundai has considered building a truck for the U.S. In 2008, Dr. Kim Dong-Jin, Vice Chairman and CEO of Hyundai, said that Hyundai killed plans to build a midsize pickup for sibling Kia Motors at a factory in Georgia because of softening demand for trucks and rising gas prices.

With pickup sales on the rise it is a good idea. And I don't think that would be very hard for them to do...

They're building better cars than Toyota right now. Why not better trucks?

Why deal with Dodge? The F-150 is the best platform to start on, And there reasoning that they should scrap the mid size is a bad idea, the half ton is the most competitive, I would never buy a half ton Hyundai based on a dodge! Hyundai makes heave equipment, they could surely make something competitive, the midsize would be the easiest to be competitive in, the best midsize is the H-3 T hands down, and it wouldn't take much to beat that.

Oh,I am trying to convince the brainwashed PC sheep that the H-3 is the most capable off roader, 3 lockers and the most wheel travel and a V-8 with factory 33-35 inch tires, Please enlighten us all as to why the H-3 is bad? It is better on fuel than the 1/2 ton 4x4s, My brother own one and he has had both, he knows, Although it can be improved, a word of advice when you laugh at it carguy68, you know nothing about trucks, stick to the car talk, or tell us in technical detail as to why you thing the H-3 is not the best mid size! Other wise it is just ignorant politically correct ignorance.lol....

The new 1/2 ton dodge frame design with the four link rear suspension is ahead of the pack. Dodge has made many advancements and this year took more awards than Ford and GM. I would not hesitate to buy one. I have a 12 year old Dodge with a lot of miles and love it.

In general I like the new 4 link, although I would still go with the Ford, it's just better, although the Dodge is a close 2nd in my opinion, The Dodge has the better engine and rear suspension, I just love the Ford Raptor's suspension and additional wheel trave with the ability to lock both axles, Dodge doesn't come out with anything close, although Dodge could make something better or as competitive.

Hyundai should forget a full size truck and come out with a competitor for the Jeep Wrangler, which fits a niche market, but has a lot of problems with reliability and ride quality that keeps it from being a hit with a wider audience. Address those problems and keep the price low. Don't make it cute. Make it a really rugged basic 4x4 but that has good road manners too. It will appeal to younger buyers which will help Hyundai down the road get repeat loyal customers.

I like your idea, but if it is going to be rugged off road its on road ride will not be the best, It will have to have two solid axles to compete with the Rubicon. Hyundai makes heavy equipment, so making something tough will not be new to them.
