SPIED: Is THIS Proof That BMW Has A 1-Series M Car On The Way?
Well, it seems very clear right this moment.

BMW must be producing a new 1-Series M-car.

Feast your eyes below, the car has now been spotted with a quad exhaust -- an M trademark -- a serious-looking differential and control arms. Additionally, it still is wearing thick rubber and drilled rotors.

Unless this is some sort of elaborate trick, I think it is safe to say that BMW's number is up.

Bimmerpost reports:

Any doubt that BMW is preparing to release an M version of the 1-series can now be put to rest. An M1 / 1M prototype with quad exhausts (a signature modern day M car element) has now been spotted. Until now, skeptics have pointed to the lack of quad exhaust as evidence that this is not an M1 / 1M, but some other higher performance 1-series version (i.e. 135is).

The M3 differential and control arms / links are also very evident in these photos...

Why?

They already have the 135...why do they need a M1, with an apparent V8 engine.

Just asking...though knowing this forum I'll be deboosted to lets say -8.

From the spy videos it sounds like a BMW six-cylinder powerplant.

I am assuming that the M1 would be a V8 under the auspices of "if it ain't...why build it".

If the 135 is already a turbocharged 6 cyl...how could BMW justify building a M1 without a V8 when the top of the line standard 3 series is a turbo 6 and the M3 is currently a V8. If all BMW intends on doing is boosting the 135i why dont they just call it the 135is and be done with it. Many companies do this (subaru with its WRX then WRX STi) however I didn't think BMW would do this. I know that with current emmission standards being put into place in the US that a smaller cyl engine with either a Turbo or Supercharger is a much smarter way to go (and Audi is actually doing this now) however BMW still has this brand new V8 engine it developed just 3 years ago...it would be a shame to use it only on one application.

Also if it has the M3's differential as well as control arms...it leads one to believe that they have built the chassis to handle the V8. Why change the control arms if your not going to put in a larger engine.

Though I do see where BMW could be follwing Porsche logic in asking themselves why make our lower cost car faster than the industry standard 3 series (they already did that with a 135). So following that logic I could see them sticking to a turbo 6.

where did you hear about a v8? Its most likely going to be a turbo 6, or possibly even a turbo 4 cylinder.

Since BMW's new single turbo is as good as the old twin turbo, then I guess that BMW's new twin turbo will be much much better than the old twin turbo.
I assume this "M1" will have a twin turbo six??
