Consumer Reports Checks In With Accolades On Long Term Sonata
Interest in the Hyundai Sonata has shot up considerably with the car's 2011 redesign, fueled in part by a barrage of press coverage and television advertisements. The attention surrounds a dramatic update of a respectable family sedan, adding dramatic style and abundant upscale features.
The interest has translated to a notable sales boost, with Hyundai moving 53 percent more Sonatas in March 2010 than in March 2009. (The general increase in sales in the industry doesn't hurt, either.)
What do we think of our 2011 Sonata GLS after 2,600 miles? Let's look at the logbook for candid first impressions:

I am a fan of direct injection, more power and better on fuel, this car also looks great, I would be curious what the crash tests results are?

The Sonata ranked a high as you can in all categories and is the IIHS Top Safety Pick. A pretty impressive performance.

Let's not forget that more than half of all sedans in this segment sold are the 4 banger version. A very small portion are the V6's. that being said Hyundai is releasing a turbo that will be very appealing.
Oh and your comment about it being more than a V6 version is WAY off base. Look at the numbers again for a similarly equipped V6 car to the loaded Sonata.

It's a great car ... and a great value. Hyundai is making huge strides.
Let's get the photo right. The one above is a rendering rather than the real thing.

Well built vehicle and highly rated by the IIHS. This is giving Camry and Accord a run. Good to see new design blood in this mundane and often boring space.

Turbo version should be nice, and I would think they offer something similar in the next Tiburon as well.
