Next Infiniti G Coupe will go hybrid and share design with Essence Concept

A Nissan insider shares that the next Skyline coupe (Infiniti G37) will have a significant number of styling features that are similar to the Essence Concept. The coupe, which is expected to arrive in 2012 at the earliest, will have elements from the Essence concept that debuted at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

The company has said earlier that its Essence model will be indicative of the brand’s future design direction. In fact, some features of the Essence are visible in Infiniti’s evamped M sedan lineup. The next G coupe measures about 186 x 77 x 52 inches and it sits on a 110-inch long wheelbase. These dimensions are believed to be more practical for the real world than had been first thought. Nissan is expected to soon launch its Leaf electric car, which fits the next G coupe with a hybrid powertrain option.

Awesome, if they redesign the G coupeusing the Essence concept cues, then that will be a pretty hot car. Don't mess it up Infiniti.

They will post next month, not the first month sales numbers of a vehicle.

I hope the next Infiniti G37 coupe look as good and class as the last gen coupe G35. The current G37 coupe side, back and 3/4 view look really weird and award.

I hope no matter what they do, they will still keep their trade mark LED lights in the back. And one more thing Nissan/Infiniti please.... DO NOT make a Nissan Altima coupe that look like your G37 coupe.

Current Nissan have a Nissan Altima coupe that look very similar to the G37 coupe. On the street I keep thinking I saw a G37 coupe on the road from the front and side but it turn out to be a Nissan Altima coupe.

I don't think it will be as soon as they think. The G37 sales are still really good, the power is relevant toward new competition entering the market. I think this current body wlll be a 6-year body instead of a 5-year.

So they are making a great sports coupe go hybrid. The value of your used G37 and G37 just went up. Way to ditch your base.
