Review: Mercedes-Benz R-Class-The most underrated vehicle out there?

We've driven the hot rod, so let's take the calm cruiser for a spin. It seems strange to write that about a vehicle some might consider a minivan, others an SUV, and still others a station wagon.

Yet the 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class cars -- the R500 and the R350 -- defy easy categorization.

The fronts are low and ground-sucking, much like a sedan. The windshields rise back sharply, not giving in to the boxy effect that a minivan might impose. The rooflines, while providing ample interior headroom, look low and sleek from outside.

And both models of the R-Class come with full-time all-wheel drive, making them stable in wet weather and surefooted crawlers even in several inches of snow.

..I am not one to criticize an increased product offering mix. I also applaud the company for taking risks on new products. That said, I feel as though BMW may win this battle when it's tall sedan crossover comes out. The BMW promises to be more sporty than the R-Class, and look less like a mini-van. I prefer the cars coming out of Munich anyways, so perhaps I'm biased.

Realy,this car is ugly.I have seen it in person.

The biggest alternative to this is the supreme Audi A6 Avant.Wow what a cool Wagon.Better than it's sedan version.

OR Buy a Mitsubishi Grandis.
MB that's the way to make a beautiful mini van or station wagon.

Or buy the new innova or Subaru Fortuner AWD.
