Did Infiniti Really Miss The Mark This Badly With The EX35?
Many cars look and drive much like any number of other cars. They’re simply not special in any way. You might as well toss a coin to choose among them. The EX35 is not one of these cars. Infiniti’s compact crossover is unlike anything else in the U.S. market. And you’re either going to love it or, more likely, hate it.

Before the EX arrived for the 2008 model year Infiniti already had one five-seat crossover, the FX. Though the second-generation FX is something of a cartoon compared to the cleaner, future-classic original, it retains a distinctive, coherent, round-yet-macho exterior. Credit the long hood and huge wheels. Compared to the FX, the EX is nine inches less lengthy, five inches narrower, and three inches less tall–all sizable differences. The EX’s largest available wheels are 18s—huge a decade ago, almost small today—and its proportions and lines are a not fully resolved blend between the FX and the G sedan. The EX is not a bad-looking vehicle, but it lacks the FX’s bold stance, coherence, and striking originality.

Where the FXXK it miss? You like the coffin-ish X3 more? I'm seeing nice design/material everywhere. Stop acting like a foo.

It's nice to drive but has little to no room in the back seat and the style is not bad if you look at a white one, but still it has issues.

such as gas mileage for such a small car

nice looking, but they missed the target. The rear seats are worthless, a simple redesign of the rear seats(allowing 5 more inches of leg room would work.) useful cargo space only with rear seats fold down.

The EX is a nice car its interior is easily nicer than the Gs and its a great concept its just that its to small its sort of like the luxury equivalent to something like a dodge calibre as in concept which is a good thing but it just doesnt really offer any more space than the G sedan so its kinda pointless. It also has odd proportions it has a low odd and a tall roof reminds me of that renault luxury thing they made a few years back. If they could fix the space issue, and the styling it would be a great car its interior is very nice and it has to be one of the best to drive if not the best from a performance stand point in this class.

I think it's a nice car but it's just too close in price to the FX to be a worth purchase. I think their next generation will be more promising

“Really Miss The Mark This Badly”??? Agent009, does the original article suggest this or is it your personal opinion? Your title seems to be quite misleading and biased.

Weakling900,

If you click the 'read article' link it goes DIRECTLY to the truthaboutcars site and the Infiniti article.

As ANY Infiniti dealer and they will tell you the EX35 has been a sales flop for the company although I like the crossover myself.

The main reason it has underwhelmed is because it is mostly sold to women and the back seat and cargo area is too small compared to the competition.

Before you throw stones, do your homework.

Maybe that is why you're a weakling....

you know what I wasnt even going to chime in on this childish mess until i see 001 left such a immature response so its go time.....Your like 2-3 times the age of most people here my point? what a childish response not to mention if we are rating whether a car is a great or not on sales than clearly alot of cars that are considered Classics wouldnt be great cars because alot of them sold horribly. Not to mention just because a car sells very well doesnt make it a good ca ie explorer, corolla, camry, es, and so and so forth none of those cars are best in class at all but they sell well. Instead of making such bogus bias claims why not do some research and stop trying to cover up Germannuts uh hem Agent009 bs bias....

I think Infiniti must get rid of that melted soapbar design.
It lacks space, but the GLK, the X3 and the RDX does too, it just looks ungainly. Fix the look (big order for infiniti) and it might work since its a good car.

Oh.. and get rid of that supid center console mounted clock.

I like the exterior and interior is gorgeous. Unfortunately rear space is too small and is no more than G37 which is a shame as it could have been a good competitor of popular RX, Q5 and even maybe X6 and Acura ZDX.

Infiniti should definitely work hard on their second generation EX and make their mind with whom EX will compete. X6 and ZDX category or RX and Q5 category. I think they should go for RX and Q5 category and therefore make the new EX slightly taller and roomier as they already have X6, ZDX, Cayenne competitor in FX.

I bought one last year. Best car I've had yet. Compact, which is perfect for me because it's mostly just me in it. I can pop the back seats down and my bike fits easily back there. AWD. Great engine. So fun to drive, but also smooth cruising on long stretches of interstate. Absolutely nothing I don't love about it, and that's the first time I can say that about any vehicle I've owned.

I think the main complaint people have is size. Yeah, it's not for you if you breed a lot. But if you want a sports sedan with a LITTLE more utility, it's perfect.

I don't think they advertised it right and it never caught on. I think it was a little too expensive and didn't offer enough benefit over the much large and not much more expensive FX. They also killed the resale by offer drastic incentives right out the door. Design wise they didn't miss the mark, but they did fail at a great opportunity to steal market share from the X3.

The EX is WAYYY smaller than the X3. I honestly don't see any usage of the EX35, only the driver and front passenger can ride the car, and you can use the rest of the car for storage. The back seat on the EX35 is just a JOKE!!! So Infiniti needs to kill this car.
