EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: 2011 BMW 5-Series Fully Unwrapped In Detail-Shoe-In For Car Of The Year?
It's always special when a new 3 or 5-Series arrives on the market and in the case of the 2011 5, the anticipation and excitement couldn't be higher.
The previous car from the Bangle era was extremely controversial and polarizing, yet sales increased and virtually EVERY premium manufacturer ended up copying the 'Bangle Butt'.
The Spies say this new 5-Series is better in every way and is gonna KILL IT on the sales charts and will make the competition more MISERABLE than ever before having to go head to head against it.
In our opinion, it's already the leading candidate for the 2011 car of the year.
Is it yours?
Sit back now and enjoy Agent 001 fully unboxing the new car for you, both inside and out.

Oh, and as an advice, never try a vehicle with stop-and-go adaptive cruise control if you don't plan on purchasing a vehicle with it any time soon and especially if you deal with the LA rush hour! That's the mistake I made :(

It’s kind of interesting that the car with manual transmission has more plastic covering around the shifting gear. But perhaps there’s a bit too much plastic.....

Also there is no cup holders for the manual transmission like the automatic in the video.

Just curious, how is the new i-drive interface? These days, in a test drive, it is not just the driving part anymore, you have to decide whether the NAV / iphone / interface make sense.

i currently have a 2010 with the new idrive (same as 2011). LOVE it. clean design, logical menus, direct buttons for nav/ipod/phone next to the controller. also, the resolution is fantastic....much better than my 2008.

I have to say this is the cleanest design on the 5 series i have ever seen since the E39. this is THE hottest 5 series by far as far as design, fit, and finish goes. interior is very driver functional it looks as if everything is just a fingertip away. I love it I wanna know with such a clean design how will they make the M5 aggressive as far as exterior styling goes. the back end of the new 5 IMO is flawless. BMW really out did themselves with the 3,5,and 7.

What a nice car, inside and out, and no cheesy clock on the center console. Way to go !

The design has grown on me but the front end still looks little bland. I like 5-GT's headlamps more. Headlamps of 5 series sedan look very catishh and also resemble new Jagaur XJ from side.
Also the Camry like bonnet line which doesn't connect with the grille and sits above BMW badge looks ugly. From top third photo explains what i mean. Look at the different bonnet line of M3(and most of BMWs) which joins the grille and is below the BMW badge, i like this setup more.
Other than that very nice design and a big step forward from the outgoing 5 series.

This car is stunning inside and out. I cant believe the 5 series sh*ts on the 7 series in the looks department. I want one so bad. Hopefully I can afford one after I graduate next year.
On a side note, sorry to burst your bubble (BMW guy in the video) but you said the 5 series is the only premium midsize sedan to offer a manual in its segment. The Cadillac CTS is a premium midsize sedan and it comes standard with a six-speed manual also. ;D

the delta between the previous generation and the new 5 series is substantial; iDrive leaps and bounds, multiple suspension settings, beautiful cockpit, rear seat legroom, among other things. and more refined drive quality than jag xf (loose), e-class (soft), a6 (underpowered), and infiniti (less refined). 550i with 450 lb of torque is a monster in street clothing. sleek, stylish, stealth.
