If a hybrid is good then a diesel hybrid must be better, right?

Imagine a car that gets 82 miles a gallon -- doubling the average fuel efficiency of the green-automotive market leader Toyota Prius. French auto maker PSA Peugeot-Citroen believes it can deliver such a car by 2010 with hybrid diesel engines that will join two fuel-efficient technologies. "That's the future. It combines the best of both worlds," says Thomas Sedran, partner at Munich consultancy Roland Berger.

i.ll bet toyota drops a diesel engine in the prius real soon. they already have many diesel models selling in europe. jeep sells a diesel right now here in the us. bmw 530i is correct. the doubters should go to europe and rent a diesel to appreciate. low sulphur diesel goes on sale year end. i would definitely buy a diesel electric hybrid add some diesel enhancer fluid and happily get 100mpg.

if i heard right low sulphur diesel goes on sale year end. you can buy vw golf diesel right now in some states, 45+mpg, put some diesel additive in tank and gain 10-15%. saab (gm) just released an ethanol hybrid in sweden zero co2 emmissions. opel, fiat etc are running on methane, very clean and cheap. these solutions will arrive in the states sooner or later because of pressure from environmental and homeland security types.
