Chrysler Beats GM To The Punch By Offering Financing To Individuals With Low Credit Scores
Seeking to broaden its customer base and add momentum to U.S. sales gains, Chrysler Group on Monday told dealers that it has reached an agreement with Santander Bank to offer financing to customers who don't qualify for prime loans.

The agreement, with Santander Consumer USA Inc., takes effect Thursday. The bank, the U.S. arm of the Spanish banking giant Banco Santander, will extend loans to customers with nonprime credit scores of 650 or lower.

Actually, it might mean a huge rebound for Chrysler. I sold cars for 5 yrs and the greater percentage of people who buy new cars are those with less than perfect to downright bad credit. People with sparkling credit scores were very much the exception to the rule and it didn't matter what brand. I've sold Honda, Nissan, Chrysler, BMW & Infiniti. Personally, I believe the credit crisis is the reason the car companies took such a huge fall in the 1st place. No more easy credit, no more car sales......

The credit crisis was caused by lending to people with poor credit scores who couldn't pay it back (what a surprise!). Why would anyone want to start that cycle all over?

The Toyota Landcruiser has been around a long time and enjoys a reputation as one of the best cars on the road. Toyota build quality and reliability mean that buying a second hand Landcruiser is a great option for car buyers who want quality and value. Once you’ve owned a Toyota it’s a bit of a one way ticket, spend some time with a Landcruiser owner and you will soon find out how much they love their cars and any mention of change is simply out of the question.

The credit problems where mostly from home leanders who made the very bad decsion of lending to people who not only had bad credit but also had no means at all to pay the loan back, having bad credit is one thing but when banks where offering no credit check loans that another thing.

The whole shabang was because banks were mislead into investing into funds that had artificially high ratings. So long as the banks continued to profit from their investments, the interest rates would stay low and they'd continue lending. So they continued to lend to anyone with a pulse because they were still profiting on the back end. But as soon as it came to light that all of the investments were garbage, everything came crashing down, and the predatory lending stuck out like a sore thumb.

Stupid is as Stupid does... Santander was directly involved in bad mortgage loan buying, and here they go again. On top of that, Chrysler has nothing new in product to offer all-too-willing debtors. Chrysler should fold shop at this point, and get it over with.
