Honda is on track losing U.S. market share, says sales boss John Mendel
Honda was expected to benefit from the troubles that Toyota had been getting into lately. But instead, Honda has lost market share while those that had gained include Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan and Hyundai.

Honda’s executives in Japan are understandably bothered by this but American Honda sales boss John Mendel says that he isn’t excessively worried. Mendel cited that American Honda, which includes Acura, has kept its retail share in 2010 and has actually been steadily climbing. Mendel asserted that Honda won’t revise its conservative strategy for the opportunity to widen its market share.

Honda sucks. Aside from the crashes and recalls at Toyota, Honda is tied for the #1 spot for boring cars with them. The Civic needs it's redesign BADLY (The Si was surpassed long ago for performance). The Pilot looks like a cheap Pathfinder. The Ridgeline is just a laughing stock unchanged since inception. The Accord needs it's update (bring back the LED taillamps). And the CrossTour...I have seen only one on the road and it looks worse there than it did on paper, and that's not saying a lot. They let the S2000 die instead of continuing a fantastic roadster. And the Fit is majorly outdated and surpassed easily by the Fiesta.

And Acura...I won't dive into that pot of horrific-ness. I see Honda taking a backseat for a few years to Ford and the others.
