VW Buys Up Italdesign Giugiaro
As if VWAG designs were not good enough as-is.

In a well executed move to keep Italdesign Giugiaro from imminent death, Volkswagen has snapped up the snappy and chic Italian design house.

We gives this two solid thumbs up as Italdesign has designed some truly spectacular machines...

Despite demand from Chinese carmakers for seductive designs from renowned Italian design houses, firms like Pininfarina, Bertone and Italdesign (IDG) have found making money pretty tricky in the current financial climate.

But help is at hand for the latter at least, with news that the VW Group has acquired a 90.1 per cent stake in the firm, with the founding Giugiaro family retaining the remaining shares...

IDG is a legendary Design company with a great history. They designed for example the BMW M1, the Lotus Esprit, and VW Golf 1. They also do a lot more, from Trains, to bottles, Cameras, and so on. Check out their archive under:

As VW keps buying car companies and now, design houses, This is like World Domination for cars. Reminds me of another german with world domination in mind.
