WEIGH IN: Is This Even A Contest? '01 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 Vs. '06 Acura RL
What?! An '06 RL versus an '01 996? I mean, I know the 996 was the bastard child of Porsche but really?

Someone please help this guy come to an appropriate decision given his situation.

You only live once, right?

The Truth About Cars reports:

Ryan writes:

I have a car purchase dilemma. I currently have a 2005 Acura TL that is a fine car. It does what I need it to do as I live in Chicago and only have to drive 1 mile to work. I am looking for a change though, and the Chicago winters always make me want something with 4-wheel drive. My fiancé’s car is a 07 Civic. We drive it most of the time around town because it is easy to park, great gas mileage and its a tank as far as reliability is concerned. I had a 2006 RL come on my radar recently for a great price (father of a co worker selling). I also found a 2001 Porsche Carrera 4 in great condition, low miles and great price available. What should I do...

Look down at the comment by PatrickBateman.

These things happen more often than you'd think.

A crappy Acura or the worst of the 911's, I still take the Porsche, or I would look for a better choice.

I don't think I'd buy a Porsche out of warranty tbh... maybe a Boxster if anything...

I wanted a Porsche 996 C4 for winter driving myself, at one point. After a little research, I decided against it. These things have all kinds of clutch and tranny issues that will leave you footing a $10k+ repair bill.

I think if you have to convince someone to buy a Porsche, it's not the right car for them.

The smelled this as a "00R" article just by the subject :-( Another slow day at Autospies.
