RENDERED SPECULATION: Could This Be What Project i Will Look Like?
BMWBlog reports:

BMW Megacity vehicle is less than three years away, but the rendering game has already begun. Courtesy of Autoexpress UK, we have the first rendering of what they label as BMW i10. Part of a new BMW sub-brand, the Megacity lineup will be focusing mostly on electric vehicles, including two and three-wheeler models.

The vehicle in the drawing gets its inspiration from the 1-Series, but it could be mistaken for a miniature X6. The i10 is expected to use a powertrain very similar to the
ActiveE concept that was show at the Detroit Auto Show back in January. The five-seater will be similar in size to the VW Golf, but the rear-wheel-driven car will be fully electric...

Is there any point in commenting on wild-assed speculation made by a person who is not employed or contracted by BMW?

Oh yeah, this is Autospies, and this is yet another "00R" posting. This is business as usual here :-(

If BMW keep making Ugly A$$ car like the new 5-Series GT and make the Megacity vehicle (whatever they call it) they can said good bye to being German #1 automaker.

Audi will take over that title within the next 5 years for sure as long as they keep making great vechicles.

I don't think your reasoning is holds up to scrutiny. Recall that BMW released the gangly 7 series in 2002, and then the ugly duckling 5 series a few year later, and the tediously boring looking 6 series. During this time, unit sales climbed, market share increased, and profitability held strong. And all this during a recession!

This suggests to me that people buy BMW cars because they *want* a BMW, not because they're gorgeous. And they want a BMW so much, they'll get one in spite of its looks.

BMW is one powerful brand to be able to pull this off. Other car makers envy them for this.

FYI, I currently own 2 BMWs (all 100% Bangle-free), and I love them both. I just don't care for anything BMW makes today. But that's just me.

Or people found those Bangle 5er's and 7er's beautiful or appealing. Design is subjective.

I concede to your point. Some folks did find these designs attractive. They appear to be in the small minority. Still, this does not prove that the designs *are* unattractive. It just shows that they appealed to a relatively tiny audience.

Nice design! Much better than most of the designs coming from BMW lately.
