New Audi TT- What's the verdict? STUD or DUD

Looks good. Too bad it will take forever for them to show up on US shores. Then again looks are not everything, they should really put more HP DNA than just 250 ponies.

I like the more aggressive nature of the new TT. However I don't care for the side views so much. The car overall, much like the last generation, still isn't appealing to me. I also agree with dbloseven...why only 250 horses?? Is Audi hiding a TTS and TTRS version?

I cant wait to see this in person..

When are the S and RS models coming out? Next year hopefully? Can't wait...

I think the new TT looks very slick. Love the lines and all.... the interior is hot, though less sporting than the out going version I think, but still looks good.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Audi (also Acura) as a whole cannot expect to fully compete with the top German brands if their cars basic architecture is still front wheel drive. All-wheel drive is nice, but you definitely pay a penalty in weight gain especially if you don't have the power-to-weight ratio to overcome it.

I've never been a huge fan of the TT, but the refresh looks okay. If I was in the market for a new car, it certainly wouldn't be in the top ten.

I think it looks awesome, plus with the 69% aluminium construction it will be lighter. So you will get great performance.

A3... TT wheelbase is actually shorter than A3, 97.2 in. vs. 101.4 in.

but now with the S and RS version..

it will be a track superstar, hopefully...

the 3.2 250hp has 0-60 in 5.7 which is conservative and will be in the lower 5 seconds range.... A3 3.2 DSG had 5.5 according to one of the magazine

Finally its here. I hope thy stuck to it on making this car a sports car and not a cruiser

But Audi sport cars do not come yet without the letters S and RS.... then we'll see.

Lem: I hope u know what RWD feels like in the snow...this car does not have as much to it to be locked away in the garage for winter....it HAS to be for everyday use, otherwise it will be a disaster


I also hope Audi kept the promise of 53:47 front rear weight ratio... this would make it as brilliant as it could be

OLD TT design is still reflecting from it.What the hell.
In clear words Audi hasn't tried or didn't worked very hard to achieve an all new or Whole-new design.

Only because of this reason,many people r not amazed by the new TT.Infact people's expectations were very high from the Audi,especially After seeing THE Z4 coupe,Cayman
they thought Audi will provide them with a stunning new model with an all new design and all new engines.BUT
BOTTOM LINE:OLD TT IS STILL THERE IN IT.

From the above pic,if u hide the front end,u will clearly see the old TT.Atleast 90% of the OLD TT BODY.

Audi should understand that the outgoing TT is around for 7-8 Years now,Now what's the point of giving again some styling cues of the current TT to the new one.People r already bored of this(outgoing) design.Why not give them something new.

On its own, its a slightly evolutionary design, but obviously not groundbreaking. It doesn't appeal to me like the Cayman or the pictures of the new BMW Z4 Coupe. Both of those cars have high sex appeal. nice lines, very sleek. The Audi TT still looks like a womans car, and I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, it is what it is. But beyond its Bauhaus oriented design, its still doesnt get my male motor running. Nice car, but doesnt get my testoserone boiling when I look at it. If Audi is trying to appeal to the female sports coupe buyer, then I think they have a fine automobile here. But, for guys.....I don't think so.

Z4 too looks like a woman's car
Z4 coupe now... i dont know... stying is too Banglized...
now the new TT looks much more masculine than the upcoming Z4 coupe, IMO.

go talk to ppl who drive a lexus, acura or infiniti

Oh, yes, the R8 is smokin'! The TT is also nice, the more I view the images. Should one get the R8 or a TT AND a A6? Choices...

The Facts.

There were some incorrect assumptions made in these posts about Audi and its models. Here are some facts that correct them:

- The Shooting Break was NOT a concept for the next A2. The Shooting Break is actually a modified MK2 TT. It was displayed to get a public reaction to a proposed TT hatchback to compete with the Z3/4 coupe. Again, the Shooting Break is actually a modified production TT. One executive did mention that the next A2 design will be based on the Shooting Break, but that is a great oversimplification.

- The new TT is in fact a very performance focused car, unlike its outgoing model. It has a lower center of gravity, has a chassis that is 70% aluminum (and thus much lighter than the MK1 TT) and has a very advanced 'magnetic' suspension option that rivals even Porsche. It is designed to head-to-head with the Z3 coupe.

- The TT is based on VW's Golf platform, but has been significantly altered, and is being produced at an Audi exclusive plant in Hungary. The new TT vastly lighter, flatter and more technologically advanced than a GTI or R32.

- An Audi is NOT a redressed VW (Unlike Lexus, Acura& Infiniti). For example, the A4 and A6 have their own platforms unique to Audi (NOT shared by VW).

- Finally, next year Audi will introduce a groundbreaking new flexible platform architecture that will support the forthcoming A4, A5, and subsequent A6, A8, and eventually TT models. This new architecture (again ONLY used by Audi, not VW) allows for some extraordinary advances. These include rear-biased all-wheel drive that allows perfect weight distribution, shorter front overhangs, and the ability to marry S-Tronic (DSG) transmissions to a longitudinal engine. The recent 'RoadJet' concept was a preview of this new platform and how it would work on a proposed A4 hatchback.

ummm audi can make it faster?

with the new TT's, they will focus on one thing: performance..
even though it is not FR... they try to make it as sporty as possible with its new suspension and the balance. Also with the new S and RS versions coming.. just wait and see..
Z4 gotta watch out...
