SPIED: Could This Be The Next HOT Buick?

SPIED: Could This Be The Next HOT Buick?
With General Motors reinvigorating Buick, the brand has undergone one significant transformation. And, if there is anyone to thank, it is the Europeans over at Opel.

Like a brave soldier, the new Lacrosse and Regal went into uncharted territory. Thanks to Opel's influence,  it seems that new buyers are interested in the brand that was once thought to be as good as dead.

As of late there have been some grumblings over what could be the possibility of a Buick compact car. This has been circulating for quite some time now and this has the Spies on alert. Knowing that GM has turned to Opel for Buick products, we are not sure if they are done tapping the Opel pipeline. Keeping this in mind we want to know what you think:

Could this be the next Buick coming down the line?

I have nothing against OPEL, but what's the point to take european OPELs and to represent it as an american icon like BUICK?

Inject life into the brand while attempting to hit a younger demographic.

Before the 2010 Lacrosse, Buick was in BAD place.

American brand is garbage no matter what type of injection they use. Opel is garbage brand, and sadly the American brands being garbage only get accepted by garbage!! So, Buick is only for old people that know nothing about cars!!

Didn't Saturn already try the rebranded Opel Astra strategy a few years ago? I don't recall that experiment working out too well.

According to buicks sales figures it is working just fine. Watch out Lexus.

We never got a chance to find out. Saturn lost its life shortly after...

Buick would do better to rebadge genesis platforms and rename stuff on those as dynathis and quietthat-for the oldfolx they will get the lexus-acura styling queues better than hyundai for the youthbait and possibly have a car that will last longer than 60k miles finally. Add a turn-signal alert and they've got a winner.

Buicks are actually normally top rated in the reliability department the Genesis has yet to be proven.....

260 BHP and direct injection, I assume that runs on 87 octane, Why do we in North America get all the S_it? Why can't we get these cutting edge cars, After all they are American Companies, its no wander that they are going broke, but seriously there is obviously some political reason why we don't get these economical super cars.

I've been asking myself that very same question for years. 4speed automatics coupled with sporty trim levels that only putrefy the image. Nearly every car is FWD or FWD based. Gimmick AWD systems and shite differentials. Shiftmatic transmissions that require you to push forward to upshift, and aren't even dual clutch.

American car companies have this impression that if they hock more options to the general public, we'll refuse to pay more for it. Look at Ford and the Mustang. They said that putting IRS on the Mustang would result in a huge cost increase, and that Americans wouldn't buy. I don't recall too many SVT Cobras rotting away on dealer lots.

Truckman the 260 hp DI engine is likely just a version of the LNF found in the HHR-SS and Cobalt SS, something we already have in the US.

I think Buick is the perfect place to sell Opels. The price of engineering a vehicle in Europe, and perhaps importing it from there (at least in the early days) can only be borne by a mid-level competitor. Buick, being the only mid-level player in the GM stable, is the candidate. Now, I actually dig the Buick brand and I haven't been disappointed by their current offerings. Enclave, LaCrosse, and Regal are gorgeous vehicles. I await the smaller sedan and the smaller SUV. The latter more because my gf is in the market for one and since she already loves the Equinox, perhaps a Buick will be a shade nicer. Her nephew has an Enclave and she loves that, but it's a bit too big for her tastes and needs.

GM has a clean slate on the reliability fad. All history is wiped out. Pretend that the bankruptcy erased all previous consumer reports ratings. Just believe the commercials- the new ones are SUPER and TRUSTED and BETTER than anything else and buy one.
