The Fall Of Two Giants: Who Is Going To Recover First, Toyota Or Tiger Woods?

The Fall Of Two Giants: Who Is Going To Recover First, Toyota Or Tiger Woods?
The bigger they are the harder they fall is what they say.

Tiger Woods has learned this the hard way when he single handily put his unstoppable golf career in the gutter with his off course affairs. Toyota has suffered a similar fate by playing Russian Roulette with public safety while bragging about their antics in corporate emails.

Yeah, they all seem to do it at one time or another.  The superstars and corporate giants simply get too big to believe they could ever fail and become insulated to morality of their own actions.  Ultimately their ill-conceived notions of invincibility become their own undoing and the house of cards tumbles down.

Fortunately for both of them, the American public loves a winner, and in general is a forgiving group.  So while both will suffer in the short term, they will eventually recover and move on learning a painful lesson along the way.

But the real question may be who will recover first?  Will Tiger be the first to work through his issues and finally move on to prominence on the course? Will the public forgive Toyota and understand they have been purged of the rogue executives that caused them to stray from the core values?

Both have some real obstacles to overcome over the next year, but who will be back on top first? Who are you more willing to forgive?

Tiger! lol Tiger's fall didn't have as many bumps, with exception of the golf club his wife had.

re "Toyota has suffered a similar fate by playing Russian Roulette with public safety while bragging about their antics in corporate emails."

Just an honest question, folks: Has anyone *proven* that a Toyota defect actually caused a runaway car? I know a lot of people *believe* this, and I am aware how it has been shown that it *might* have happened that way... but has anyone actually proven that it *did*?

To the best of my knowledge, Crime Scene Investigators (CSIs), independent specialists, and even NASA (no joke) have been engaged, and none found the smoking gun. Just a lot of conjecture.

I know this does not prove Toyota's innocence, but I, for one, am a big fan of "innocent until proven guilty." Audi showed me that no matter how guilty someone *looks* in the eyes of the media and the public, what people believe is sometimes out of step with what actually is.

But hey, don't let me put a damper on an otherwise inflammatory, festering heap of flame-bait!

There is no proof of Toyota defect.

But piles of proof they knew they had a problem and decided to put off action and pocket the money.

vladyxa and Steve get your head out of the ground. when ever a car company has to stop selling 8 models (the record so far) something is terribly wrong. Also if there was no problem why did Toyota have to "fix" all of their cars. I geuss only people with Toyot's either cant drive or just wanted to kill themselves and their passengers.

Wake up!

"Agent009 ... So, let me get this straight:

1. You say: "There is no proof of Toyota defect"
2. Then you say: "But piles of proof they knew they had a problem" "

To clarify, (a) so far, nobody has proven that a Toyota defect was to blame for those unfortunate customer experiences, and (b) Toyota know for quite some time that they had a BIG problem on their hands, and that is that, like with Audi of the past, a number of customers *believed* there is a problem.

IMNSHO, the *appearance* of impropriety can be as damning as the actual impropriety. Sad, but true.

Tiger! simply because it is easier for one man to turn himself around as compared to a whole company!

Twisted I may be...(the jury is still out on that one). But how much more could the profits had been if they didn't have the issues.

The class action suits are just now emerging and either way it will be costly defend and control. So don't think they are over.

I have long said defects will happen. A modern day vehicle is incredibly complex and bugs will creep in. But to ignore the issues is unacceptable and avoidable.

It was posted, but they also didn't cover anything up (that we know of) hence the lack of outrage.

Also there where no deaths involved either.

America needs cars a little more than they need tiger woods.

As time passes here on Autospies we all begin to understand the truth behind the agents. It is no surprise that they did not post the 1.5M recall from GM yet jump on the opportunity to post any anti-Toyota story. Just another regular day. I was also waiting for the story to be posted here but have not see it yet.

That's easy, Tiger! His cheating didn't cause the death of innocent people.

Tiger..the reason being..he just can't keep his tool in his pants, but he does nothing to slow my life down...not like all the idiot Toyota and Lexus drivers on the road who drive too slow in the #1 lane and trail traffic by 5 to 10 car lengths.
