Tesla sells environmental credits to Honda, report says
Tesla Motors Inc. has yet to turn a profit on the zero-emission vehicles that it has produced with the support of Toyota Motor Corp. and Daimler AG, according to a filing by the Palo Alto-based company.

But to help offset those losses, the company has taken to selling environmental credits to Honda Motor Co. Since 2008, Tesla has made $13.8 million from selling the “zero-emission vehicle” credits that big automakers need to be able to comply with California’s strict pollution rules.

Built on the old venture capital dot-com business model (also known as a ponzi scheme) it is absolutely no surprise that Tesla hasn't made a dime thus far.

The real ponzi scheme is the "environmental (carbon) credit" racket. From Mother Earth's perspective, there is no reduction of manufacturing emissions; only a transfer of money from company A to company B for the purpose of company A to continue emitting the same amount of pollution and justifying the guilt of doing so.

and it does allow company B to continue running even though it isn't economically feasible for it to run otherwise. Thus keeping hippies happy.

+1. Unfortunately, no one knows when the company B's of the world will begin to make a dent in emissions reduction (awaiting the maturation & adoption of their technology) vs. the continued emissions of the company A's of the world. Or when it does occur, is it too late?
