Mercedes-Benz announced that it defeated Audi in global monthly sales for the first time this year mainly because it registered a record growth in China.

But it appears that the sales were not high enough, as Bmw remains on the 1st place with just 375 units ahead of its rival from Stuttgart. Bmw remained No. 1 in global premium-brand car sales in May and continues to be the leader in Germany. For those who don’t know. The Bavarian manufacturer is the leader in Germany since January!

Only because the Asian market hasn't woken up yet.

By 2013 they'll put down the Bimmer/Merc crack pipe and start looking elswhere. Who knows- maybe Lexus could end up being a big hit in their own backyard after all........

I have lived in Tokyo and you see more BMW and MB than Audi. Lexus does't even register--maybe once a week. Live in Hong Kong and same story. I frequently travel to Shanghai, and there Audi appears to be king, and BMW and MB are a tie for a distant 2nd. Lexus still nowhere to be seen.
