Death Of A Dinosaur? Lexus SC430 Production To End In July
Lexus has just confirmed that the SC 430 luxury hardtop convertible will end production this July. The model has been around — and has mostly been unchanged except for some special edition models — for almost a decade.

The second-generation SC has long been rumored to soon be pulled out from the market. During the past five years, the demand for the SC430 has steadily declined. In 2002, it sold 14,462 vehicles. But in 2009, less than 1,000 SC430s were sold, with 720 of them sold in the US. Lexus will make about 300 cars in the last year of production.

Its about DAMN TIME......people stiopped buying them because they are dated get with the program toyota. Can the GEN 3 SC get some back seat room and be a little bigger than the current model. they need to refresh the first shape and make it modern again. BUT thank you for ending this car its literally a MODERN DINOSAUR

I think the gen 3 SC should be smaller, ditch the rear seats and be an affordable luxury sports car. Then make a sportier version and call it the SCF?

I agree but this car wouldnt be so bad if it was actually a blast to drive and lost weight. I see it as a personal luxury vehicle option for the Lexus fans who have the extra money to blow.

I dont think they should ditch the rear seats at all why keep making this car smaller unless they are trying to put it up against the MB SLK. This car needs to be bigger if anything like the size of a 6 series or an A5. they put so much effort into the LFA they forgot about their core products. I hope this model doesnt get AXED and they keep it going maybe they need to hire BANGLE to bring some life to the model

should have been put out of it's misery (and ours) about 5 years ago. the car is dated, slow and painfully boring.

At an attempt to say something nice about it...it's somewhat shocking that an interior designed 10 years still looks farily modern today. Not up to par with others, but doesnt look that terrible considering.

This thing was bad the day it came out. It never looked good, and I generally like Lexus products.

SC stands for "sports coupe". The current SC had nothing sporty about it except for the 2 doors.

Lexus needs to revisit the original SC which was soo successful in it's early years because:

-It was sporty
-truly original and attractive styling
-couple of engine choices and a manual transmission.

The should base the Next SC off of the GS platform, much like the E-Class coupe. They should have multiple engines A V6 and V8, manual transmission or a DSG type, have a convertible version, and make it truly sporty.

After the excellent job they have done with the the driving dynamics of the LFA, Lexus has no excuse in the world on why they can't building a involving "driver's car".

Let's not forget it needs to have some real attractive and original styling, not look like a upside down bathtub or a used bar of soap.

Dinosaur? I always thought it looked just like a pig. Put a curly tail on its deck-lid and paint it pink.

next gen SC supposed to have a V8 with at least 360HP, maybe 415HP version from the IS-F, and a possible hybrid option making 420+HP as in the LS600H. Of course their hybrid tech will be better in 2012 when the next SC should surface, so perhaps more HP, coupled with a lighter chassis, Akio Toyoda seems to have good plans for this car in the future.

all wishful thinking...

lexus takes FOREVER to develop cars (LFA took a decade) and we haven't even seen a prototype of the SC yet.

Next SC should have at least 70% performance of LFA and it will be great and a nice design with many carbon fibre parts or if Toyota is going to make it luxury oriented than should be at least as good as current MB CL.

70% hmmm, so 0.75g's in the corner, 250ftlbs of torque, 6300rpm redline... 250ftlbs at 6300rpm = 300hp, 4714lbs... really doesn't sound very impressive...

I cant imagine someone having to be in a Lexus bad enough to choose this over so many other wonderful options.

as much as i hate this car, its interior alone is more luxurious then 2010 SL, 6 series and XKRs.....FACT

This car needs to compete with the 6 series and CL-Class instead of being a hardtop chode.
