VIDEO: Chrysler's Biggest Debut Nearing, First 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ad Strikes Up Pride
You know, Chrysler has been behind the curve since getting their bailout funds and hooking up with Fiat. But it seems they have a fire lit under their _ _ _ and are going to be getting back down to brass tacks.

How do I know?

Well, first they pushed up the introduction of the Jeep Grand Cherokee -- or they gave a conservative timeframe at the 2009 New York Auto Show, where the car debuted. Additionally, this car is the bee's knees.

It looks damn near on point to the show car, which was incredibly good looking and had a SOLID interior. Something a Chrysler product -- in recent memory -- always lacked.

Secondly, the first advertisement for Chrysler's new Jeep Grand Cherokee has hit the web and it is fantastic. I only wish it could have aired during the Super Bowl so more people would take notice of the new Chrysler and what it is attempting.

What say you, Spies? Are things shaping up over at Chrysler?

lets just hope the reliability is rock solid

Correct me if Im wrong but reliability really hasnt been an issue with Jeep. The lack of technology and poor interiors (as a result of its parent company) have been Jeeps major problems. Idk, like I said, correct me if Im wrong.

Sometimes lack of technology is a good thing. My old Jeep never got stuck in snow, mud or rain.I barely gave it an oil change let alone check the tires, brakes, suspension. I would climb trails in two feet of snow whereas my brothers X5 fell on its face.

Nice commercial. Wish it would air during the playoffs.

Trying to sell a car based on the fact its company is American is lame. They should show how rugged it is and get more views of the outside/inside. Use the car to sell the car,not the country its from.

The X5 was never meant as an off road vehicle. Thats like saying your jeep is not fast enough to keep up with an Porsche cayenne turbo. Yes they are both SUV's but the similarities stop there. All it would take is tires to tackle that kind of snow. Low profile high performance sport tires do poor in snow no matter what vehicle you put them on. I bet if you swapped tires then your brothers X5 would be leaving you behind in the snow. It isnt the 4wd system on the X5 that is the problem, it is the lack of traction from the high performance street tires. 4wd with traction control is the next best thing to having air lockers. MY land rover discovery is unstoppable with this same 4wd system. the only stock jeep that could go where my stock land rover can is the wrangler rubicon.

I totally agree that tires play a critical role when it comes to traction. In 90% of cases, I rather have a FWD car w/ a good set of Blizzak's vs an AWD system with all seasons in the snow. With that said, although AWD and 4WD are used interchangebly by the industry, an X5 with it's AWD system vs a Jeep with it's 4WD system using similar tires would be a decisive win for the Jeep in low traction situations.

The Jeep has a trail-rated 4wd system with locking differentials, the BMW does not have this option.

Then again, 95% of all SUV owners DO NOT go off-road anyway.

"As a people we do well when we make good things, and not so well when we don't."

Even better news is that Jeep and Chrysler got bailed out for the latter.

Things we make, hmmm I think Mercedes made alot of it as it is based on the ML platform. Sad thing is 90% of America has not a clue about the engineering and where it came from. Likewise in the challenger/charger/300. no one I know knew that the V8 came with a mercedes 5spd automatic and that the suspension was based on the older E class benz.
