Review: How does the new Escalade stack up against its competitors?

The redesigned Escalade, sibling of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, stands out as the sexiest full-size SUV on the market, an awesome Detroit offering that hits a bull's-eye in such important areas as horsepower and cabin design.

Fuel economy is another matter.

The six- to eight-passenger Escalade gets a larger, 6.2-liter V-8 engine. Oddly, it does not offer the variable-displacement system available on the lesser Tahoe that shuts down four of the cylinders under part throttle to save on gas.

The new Escalade returns 13 mpg in city driving and 19 mpg on the highway, which may seem only marginally better than the outgoing model, which had the same city number, but got only 17 mpg on the highway. Considering the '07 Escalade gets a whopping boost in horsepower, however, those fuel economy numbers are fairly remarkable.

Rolling on dub+2's, with 5 screens inside, 5 screens outside, 200 lbs of audio equip (subs/speakers/amps/etc..), your xbox360, all your friends (including the Fat Joe look alike), and all that ice around your neck and on your pinky finger..........you can afford that gas mileage.

Good Job GM. This is so far the best Escalade yet. But I do think that it will do well. Better than its Ykon and Tahoe cousins! Much cleaner lines and sharper edgier headlamps! I would but it in a heartbeat! But not for $78,000 considering I am from Canada. I think they should offer a much smaller V8 in it though... maybe a 345hp 4.5L V8. But good job Cadillac. It gives a nice smooth ride and is extremely quiet on the interior. I know his considering my cousin just purchased one. I just still think that they should re-work the interior considering it the same in all the Big SUV's. I don't think the new Yukon will do too well though. I think Cadillac will be stealing away all the customers. What I really like about it is fact that it is not too big and not too small. They made it just around the right size. But I still think the Tahoe looks flimsy. Bsically in the Escalade it is the top of the line Tahoe which has a bigger engine. Tahoe is still flimsy and looks cheap, it just barely crosses the line. And then there is the Yukon. I guess you have to purchase the Denali because the cheaper models just look cheap! I mean not full quality. I honesltly think that the Denali is an overpriced Durango wannabe. I mean if you look at the back closely, it looks like a Durango!
Oh well... time for me to shut up now!

I do think that Cadillac should offer some other wheels with it. Maybe some Konig styled ones!

Rebates are already here! In the last few days, I have been offered $10,000 off a Tahoe and $7,000 off an Escalade. GM are desperate offering such big rebates on new models. The mind boggles at what the rebates will be in 12 months time!

The sexy-ist, best looking etc etc. It is a GM and it is none of those things. Try your local GM service when it breaks. That is when reality will smack you in the face. For me it is just another piece of absurdly priced GM crap
