STUD or DUD: LEAKED! Is Volkswagen's All-New Jetta Going To Take Down The Competition?
Well, well, well. Look at what we've got here.

Thanks to our friends across the pond, we have new information about the next-generation Volkswagen Jetta. The most important being that the Jetta will NOT share a platform along with the Golf.

This provides the Jetta a bit more freedom from past versions, which means it will be able to do its own thing.

First things first, the exterior bears a bit of resemblance to the NCC Concept and its interior looks very clean cut and down to business.

From what you can see, what say you Spies? Is this going to take down the competition?

VOLKSWAGEN has unveiled an all-new version of its Jetta saloon – but this time it’s not based on the bigger-selling Golf hatchback.

By making the four-door an independent model, designers have been able to work from scratch. The result is a stylish shape that is better proportioned than the previous Jetta’s, thanks to a 90mm increase in length.

At the front, bold horizontal lines give the four-door a mature face, while the shoulder line running from front to rear is lifted from the stylish NCC hybrid concept coupé, unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January...

Stud. Looks much better and sharper than current bland and boring design.
Though the front end looks little bit like Lexus HS and rear end looks like previous Audi A4.

how can you look at those pictures and say its not bland that has to be one of the most boring Jetta designs ever made and in this class it really looks bland by comparison...

It's boring but I'm sure it will drive nice...

She's not good looking but she's got a great personality.

I don't know. VW's have always had a distinctive design, like it or not. This design seems to have alot of Japanese influence, and to me, looks more mundane and un-VW-like.

Neither stud nor dud. Its is nice, very Audi-esque and also very bland. Looks like it could've been designed a few years ago. Compared to its competition its not gonna turn many heads.

Nice. But "nice" can be dull.

Looks only...ok. Better than the awkward current design but the rounded and stubby looking front end doesn't seem to mesh well with the angular design of the headlights and grille openings. They missed the mark IMO cuz the NCC concept was much better looking, somehow.
I'll be waiting for the Golf R if we ever get it

...I found a few more pics on the topspeed.com post, though they're not "in the flesh" pictures the car might have potential. With VW's newly announced R division maybe they can sex it up a bit. We'll see.

The jetta has always been boring, nothing will ever change that. Just like every other vw product, its a german toyota--a snore to look at.

I think it look really good for a VW and it remind me of the last Generation Audi A4 Sedan. One of the thing that I really hate about automakers nowday is that there cheaper or Not premium brand look to similar to their Premium cars.

Good job VW

Less Corolla like, more Audi-like. That's good, but not good enough to be a stud.

It looks nice, just does nothing for me... I'd rather take the new Hyundai Sonata... seems to be the only car in this class with any sort of inspiration...

I've seen the Sonata in the flesh and I'm not in love with it.What I like about this car are it's crisp lines, the rear slope of the c pillar and the sharp front end. It looks more upscale then it's competition. If it's built well enough it should sell.Where the 2 door coupe?

I don't see is a good time for VW , Germans now are too conservative and they need to make a radical new and exotic design they make the same mistake with Mercedes and the new BMW line. Open your eyes and move fast competition is very hard. Koreans is just behind.

" Koreans is just behind"

RUKidding me?

The Koreans sales are so far ahead this year that VW will only be a distant spec in their rear view mirror.

This VW Lumpmobile has to compare specs with the new Elantra no contest..Elantra will knock them out in the first round.

VW have de-contented the Jetta down to the bargain bid catagory while the Koreans are loading long lists of standard features on theirs.

What would you rather have...a new car with WOW appeal, lots of goodies, and a long warranty, ot a stipped out VW yawner with a bare bones warranty?

And don't hand me that 'yea but what about that great German Engineering'?
THAT my friend is a figment of your lack of imagination.

On my 2006 Jetta TDI, they couldn't even make a simple dip stick that lets you read the oil level without putting it in and out a half dozen times, and even then you're not sure.

Don't get me started on the rest of the poorly designed crap on that car they call German Engineering.
