iPad is the new tool for automakers and dealers
As you may know already Apple released the iPad new tablet computer and made quite a buzz on the market. It appears that auto dealers liked so much this tool and they decided to introduce this in order to boost sales.

First to use this tool were Mercedes-Benz dealers because the employees can carry this device with them as they work with customers, instead of staying behind a desk. Moreno, president of Mercedes-Benz of North Olmsted, near Cleveland, started using the iPad in his dealership right away. According to him, the iPad proved to be a handy tool for checking in vehicles as they come off lease.

Naysayers...........

It's a pretty cool device and is just one more example of the PC getting smaller and smaller and more mobile.

pc minus pc functionality... who else releases a computer that doesn't have an actual operating system?

I have a shelf full of software, you show me how I can install those programs and then I'll stop bashing the ipad.

I never said the software was for the ipad. The ipad is only good for flash esque bare minimum "apps", which I guess is all it could handle anyway with its aging tech.

Invisable lets see you watch DVD's on the ipad or install play third party games or software. Ipad = fail.

the point of operating systems are to run programs/apps, well guess what an iPad does, it runs apps (like pc's do) it can play music (pc's do as well), it plays videos, views photos, has productivity software, you can read books, surf the web (without flash). Like it or not the ipad is a pc, this is the first iteration and it's only going to get better, faster, more powerful and capable as time goes on. Not everyone buys a pc to run intensive programs. iPad is a large iPod touch just like a Camry is a large corolla, corolla can get you around but not as fast or comfortable or powerful as a Camry. There is a difference between a cot and a king sized bed though you can sleep on both. iPad is more than just a large iPod touch

An iPad has a specific purpose, so either you are an audience for that purpose or not. It's like knocking a calculator for not having scientific functions when you're only using it for addition and subtraction.

For what it's supposed to do, it's an excellent execution, a little overpriced, but it works well and I'm certain that the 2nd generation will be quite awesome. I'm waiting at least 18 months before buying the iPad for my home so that it would have the necessary bells and whistles for it to be truly useful inside my home. Processors will be cheaper, faster and more efficient in a year and the OS will be cleaned up by then too.

The current 4G iteration of the iPhone blows away the 1st gen iPhone. No differently, the next gen iPad is going to be sweet and probably cheaper too, because you know that Microsoft, HP, Dell and Google will be releasing something damn awesome in 18 months as well. Gotta love competition.

what exactly is the iPad's specific purpose? It can do a lot of things... half assed... for example, it can surf the internet... without a keyboard... or it can watch movies... but can't use dvd's... It can look at pictures... but has shitty resolution... It can listen to music... but they have shitty tiny speakers right next to each other... it can listen to music with headphones... but it doesn't tuck into your pocket...

I didn't say that. lol you like to twist words don't you.

I said, it can surf the internet, not that it must surf the web. Can does not = must

I claimed it can't install software on an ipad because, you can only install apps, which are in essence glorified web based apps, and not full software programs. For example, macromedia flash is a program... an internet game using flash is an app...

And I didn't say anything about an interface not existing.. I said it doesn't have a keyboard.

Invisible, you should probably change your name to Ignorant...
