SPIED: Mercedes-Benz's Next-Gen S-Class Mule Gets Spotted
Can you hear that? Although you may confuse it with the Jaws theme, in reality it is actually the sound of innovation on its way.

The next-generation S-Class has been spied.

The car that is always known for its groundbreaking technology is due for more than its 2010 refresh and sources are claiming that the new S will bear some resemblance to the F700 Concept vehicle.

Also in the works is suppose to be a new suspension system dubbed PRE SCAN. It is said to employ the use of lasers in order to determine changes in the roadway so the system can adapt to deliver the best possible ride.

Sounds like something out of the Jetson's, no?

The current S-Class has been around for five years. So to keep it ahead of the pack, Mercedes is working on the next generation car, due to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011.

As it’s still in a very early stage of development, drawing any conclusions about the look of the next car is tricky. However, the look is derived from the dramatic 5.17-metre long F700 Concept shown in 2007.

The new flagship has been penned by Gorden Wagener, so expect similar dashes of chrome trim, glitzy LED daytime running lights and angular surfaces to those of the latest E-Class. The slender, headlights from the F700 are also likely to make production...

Eh, this looks like some sort of 2nd facelift model rather than the next generation S class.

00R :-) I like your intro with the reference to the Jaws theme. You're right though, the intro of a new S (not a make-over or update) is always associated with new technologies and new functionality. Should be interesting what tidbits come out over the next 18 months.

My S550 will be replaced by the new one. The only S that I never liked was the one in the 90's that was a box and the early models of the previous gen which had issues. MB is now back with building solid tanks not tanks made of lego.
