2010 Toyota 4Runner faithfully sticks to the formula it helped create
Toyota has made some serious money over the past couple of decades by making safe, reliable vehicles. There have been a few models, like the Supra and Celica, that have appealed to the enthusiast, but the rest of America hasn’t really seemed to care. New Toyota chief Akio Toyoda has promised to change that paradigm, however, pledging to inject new vehicles with much-needed soul. But do we have to wait a few years for Toyota’s designers and engineers to come up with something new and exciting? Maybe not.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee coming out will be faster, more fuel efficient and better off road at the same price...plus it looks a hell of a lot cooler...his Toyota will never get you any quality puntang.

but there are some MAJOR factors you leaving out. RESALE VALUE is the biggest. 4 runners hold their value probably better than any other SUV based upon what I have seen when I searched for a used one. Second would be the reliability factor. The 4 runner has always been a solid vehicle. yes the Grand Cherokee may be faster and more fuel efficient, but if I am driving an SUV, speed is not my #1 concern. I will choose a more valuable vehicle in the long run which will eat up the few dollars you will save on slight better fuel economy. Plus the 4 runner has a more likely "long run." The 4 runner is a much better truck hands down! Has been for a while and likely will continue to be.

Bullshit. The 4Runner has turned into an over-grown, over-styled, over-priced over-weight flab mobile that could not be further from its roots than a pine tree headed into the grinder at a matchstick factory.

"Faithful"?

Faithful would be a simple and inexpensive SUV based on the Tacoma pickup, with a removable hard top and a hose out interior. Faithful would be a four cylinder engine and steel wheels. Faithful would be a ruggedly built vehicle, not one with pseudo rugged styling that in the end only appeals to soccer moms.

Actually. No there are no basic steel wheels.

More than 1.8 million 4Runners have been sold since the launch in 1984, and Toyota says 70 percent are still on the road.

And how many Jeep Grand Cherokee's?

lol, ouch! is that 70% of the vehicles made in 1984? or is that a sum total of all the ones made up until today?

I love the rear locker and I would love to know how much extra wheel travel they think this has, I would like to see an off road package with two lockers and 35x12.5x17in tires, with 15in. of wheel travel controlled by fox racing shocks all around, now that would be an off road package.

Garbage. It looks like something out of a low-budget 80s sci-fi flick.
