Lincoln Starts Free Maintenance Promo, Is It Enough To Set It Apart From Other Luxo-Brands?
Lincoln is making an effort to make its "prestige" brand stand out from Ford. The first step? It is offering a promotion that will make your new Lincoln free of maintenance bills for a while.

Three years or 45,000 miles, whichever comes first.

**NOTE: The MKZ Hybrid is NOT covered under this new incentive.

Is this enough or is Lincoln going to have to start upping their game in other ways?

What say you, Spies?

If you buy or lease a new Lincoln, forget about paying for routine maintenance for awhile.

Lincoln announced a promotion starting Friday that offers free scheduled maintenance for three years or 45,000 miles. The incentive runs through Sept. 7.

The deal covers the basics, including oil changes, tire rotation, inspections, and some replacement parts, like wiper blades and brake linings. Engine belts and hoses are also part of the plan...

Whether YOU (or anyone else) considers Lincoln a legit "luxury brand" or not, it is.

In a strange way you gotta point....but how can the Free Maintenance Promo Set It Apart From Other Luxo-Brands when BMW started doing that first. it will set them apart from any other american luxury auto manufacturer.

Its odd ironically Ford seems to have set the bar to high for themselves lol, the new Fords have become very good while there more "luxurious" divisions "versions" of the new Fords are not really noteworthy at all or worth the asking price unless you have to have a lincoln or are in love with the styling. The Mks isnt really interior or exterior wise worth more than a taurus same goes for the MKT and Edge in fact in my opinion the Ford version is the better car. Its time for Ford to take Lincoln up a notch now that theyve moved Ford up now they are right on top of each other...and Ford appears to be winning

Well since better luxury brands like BMW and Audi are already doing this I would say no, it is not enough to set it apart. Maybe from Lexus but that is only for customers that don't want to spend the money on maintenance. Lincoln is more of a Lexus competitor. Lincoln has nothing to compete with the Cadillac CTS/STS, BMW 3/5 series, Mercedes c/e class, Infinities G/M, or Audi's A4/A6. Lincoln just doesn't make a competent luxury sport sedan worthy of competing. Their competition now is Buick, Lexus and Acura. Lincoln needs an updated, better performing rearwheel drive sedan to succeed the LS. While the interior fel apart and was cheap, it was at least an effort to get on BMW/Merdedes/Audi's playing field. Cadillac made the right move making distinct vehicles to set them apart form other GM products except for a couple clones like the Escalade. While 7 seconds 0-60 is slow for a 306hp midsize sedan (the BMW 530 with less power is substantially faster) the driving dynamics of the CTS is quite competent and good enough to be in the same playing field as Germany's big 3.

In the premium car sector, I believe you need to be "noteworthy" in some way. BMW has their reputation for exceptional handling sedans, having defined the "sports sedan" segment. Mercedes is known for their "luxury", and the status of "having arrived." At one time, they were known for being "engineered like no other." Even Lexus has their angle, orginally defined as a high level of "apparent luxury," with very few defects.

So what is Lincoln's outstanding quality? Um... we're made in America? Um... we employ your neighbors? This stuff doesn't cut it in the premium car market.

Lincoln's free maintenance sets it apart from Cadillac but not other luxury brands. They already offer that (well Bmw does from my knowlege).

"Lincoln is nothing more than rebadged Ford's. Lincoln is not comparable to Cadillac."

Bullseye!

Ford needs to make Lincoln cars that have no conections to Ford cars and make the well to go alongside this program. Until then there is no Lincolns on my list of cars I would buy.

Toyota and Nissan do it with great success. It just has to be executed properly.
