Jeep brand to become Chrysler’s primary global make in the first half of 2011
According to the latest reports from Automotive News, Jeep brand is preparing to become Chrysler’s primary global make in the first half of next year as Fiat will emphasize the Lancia nameplate in Europe.

This means that Chrysler’s minivan, the 300 and Sebring models will be rebadged as Lancia across most of Europe by the end of the first quarter or early in the second, according to Michael Manley, Chrysler Group’s international chief.

Gas is $6.00 per gallon throughout most of Europe, and more expensive than the US nearly everywhere else in the world. Jeep might want to work on the gas mileage.

Isn't Jeep already the primary global brand of Chrysler? I see the Grand Cherokee occasionally in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as the 300, even more rare the minivan (Buick owns this segment in Asia). Grand Cherokee is also the most visible of the brand in Europe, from what I've seen over the past several years. But it's a niche vehicle in a region where people who need AWD are more likely to get an A4 Avant than a Jeep.

Anyone have any stats on this?
