Could Free Maintenance Be THE Deal Maker Your Next Car Purchase?
Cadillac announced today it will provide owners of all 2011 models with frequently required maintenance services for the first four years or 50,000 miles as it seeks to build the best customer service experience in the luxury segment.

The program, called Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance, covers scheduled oil changes, tire rotations, replacement of engine and cabin air filters and a multi-point vehicle inspection.

"Cadillac is adding Premium Care Maintenance as a way to extend customer service beyond the sale," said Kurt McNeil, vice president of Cadillac sales and service. "The program is designed to raise satisfaction for owners by ensuring access to expert service. It should lead to higher loyalty rates for dealers by establishing them as a valued resource for our customers."

Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance launches with the arrival of the 2011 model Cadillacs. The CTS family, which is being expanded this year to include the all-new CTS Coupe, will be the first of the 2011 models to arrive at U.S. dealerships in late summer.

Premium Care Maintenance is the latest in a host of Cadillac initiatives that elevate the luxury ownership experience. It joins other Cadillac customer service and ownership benefits including:

* Five-year, 100,000-mile Powertrain warranty along with standard 24/7 Roadside Assistance and Courtesy Transportation.
* Four-year, 50,000-mile vehicle bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage.
* Standard one-year OnStar Directions and Connections plan, which includes Automatic Crash Response, Turn-by-Turn Navigation, Vehicle Diagnostics and Stolen Vehicle Assistance.
* Standard XM Radio with a three month trial.

In 2009, Cadillac placed second in the industry in both the Sales Satisfaction Index and Customer Satisfaction Index studies from J.D. Power & Associates. A survey by AutoPacific of 2010 new vehicle buyers rated Cadillac No. 1 in total satisfaction.

"Cadillac rates among the industry's best in customer satisfaction, but we have room for improvement," McNeil said. "Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance is another step in our goal to set the standard for the industry in customer service."

Editors note:  Right now Cadillac, Lincoln, BMW, and Volkswagen are the only ones that include maintenance in the vehicle purchase.

If all other things were equal, then free maintenance would be the sole differentiator. But as we know, all other things are not equal.

nothings free. You have to evaluate the cost of the vehicle compared to the competition and purchasing an aftermarket extended warranty. Hendrick dealers offer a great program

And 009 once again fails to check his spelling on the headline.

So glad to see you have the time to correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. These things will get by from time to time.

Probably not THE deal maker - but a nice bonus - still wouldn't get me to consider a bad car though

Too little, too late. Where were they 5-years ago when they could have been a leader? Oh yeah, selling as many SUV's as they could. How did that work out for ya?

GM - Either get in and stay in or get out and stay out. Seeing you run around copying everyone else years later is embarressing for all of us.

BMW started this trend and if you read the BMW club magazine its technical editor is always talking about how BMW's free maintenance
program provides considerably less maintenance then required to maintain a car properly to exceed more than 100,000+ miles. BMW figures that original purchasers will not keep their cars that long and the marketing gains far,far exceed any long term issues. Makes sense from BMW's standpoint and others are following its lead though it may not sit right with those hoping to keep their vehicles for a long period. The editor of the BMW club magazine provides free to all a list of the proper maintenace procedures to extend a vehicle's life and recommends that owners instruct BMW service people to add the steps when a car is brought in for service.

My Jeep Wrangler has Free Maintenance I get under the damn thing myself and change the oil myself because I am a man and not a soccer mom! (ok I have to buy the oil...which is a HELL OF A LOT CHEAPER then what they charge me at the dealer.)

@pennfootball: Sorry. I live in a loft in Chicago. I know how to change my oil myself but I dont have anywhere to do this. Does this not make me a man?

As for the article, what is the big deal? Cadillac now offers free maintenance. Good for those who care, whatever for those who dont. I personally think only an idiot would purchase a car based on free basic maintenence. My oil and filter changes probably cost me about $100 annually so for me, its a whatever.

I enjoy doing my own maintenance. The times I have paid someone has never been good. Had my oil changed on vacation and when I got home to change it again the oil filter was lose. I have no idea how it made the 2500 mile trip home without leaking or comming off. Personally free maintenance would not cinch the deal.
