Leaked: 2011 Lexus IS Facelift

Leaked: 2011 Lexus IS Facelift
Earlier this month we revealed you the first spy shots with the 2011 Lexus IS facelift. Well, today the facelift became almost official as the first brochure with the 2011 model appeared on the web.

As expected the changes are minor and we can see the presence of the daytime running LEDs as well as a revised front bumper. Also, few updates are seen at the interior and include an USB connector and an aluminum trim. According to Lexus, the 2011 IS will also be with 15% more fuel-efficeint than the current model. However, it appears that the big improvements will be seen on the 2011 Lexus IS F Sport model.

I'm excited about the LED lighting, if it looks anything like the Audi lighting this IS is going to look awesome. And the F sport grille looks really nice

Again? Isn't IS just had facelift back in 2009?

Toyota changed directions about a year ago to extend each model to around 5 years minimum with only minor changes. This was to allow plenty of time to release new models.

The only thing I see wrong with that is that many others are releasing on 3 year cycles which means in some cases a you can buy a Lexus and the direct competitor will undergo 3 revisions to your one.

LEDs inside the headlight housing? Ingenious. Yet another design innovation created by Lexus.

To *my* eyes, this care says "ho hum" in a big way. That would be a high-quality, low-defects sort of "ho hum" though!

Typo: care -> car. Sorry :-(

Is there a reason why the pic says 2010? I would be surprised to see any revisions to the IS for 2011, unless it was specifically a new package (like maybe this is just part of the F Sport package). Lexus would not likely do an upgrade in its last model year, but is known to release packages in cars' final years. That being said, I would also be surprised about any engine change resulting in a 15% fuel economy gain, as nice as that sounds. Again, not likely in the final year. Esp since the pic says 2010. Just sayin.

The black IS in the press release photo above looks like it has the new Mazda "smiley face" treatment. The headlights now look like eyes the underside of the front bumper body kit looks like a smiling mouth!

I think I prefer the pre-facelift version, but I have to see this in real life before I make my final decision.

Lexus should concentrate on matching the Infinity G35 or now G37 with this car. Infinity has a huge following with the tuner crowd. Listen up Toyota.

They probably just did the refresh to add an additional two years to the cycle... this means that they'll probably do the new GS next year as a 2012, and the IS the following year as a 2013.

it looks the same. 6th model year and this is all they could come up with? a bumper and aluminum trim inside?
