Breaking: Jeep planning to re-enter pickup truck market
The last pickup that Jeep gave its consumers was the 1992 Jeep Comanche but there’s still a possibility that a compact and midsize pickup truck will soon arrive in our midst.

In an interview during the first drive of the 2011 Grand Cherokee, Mike Manley, president and CEO of the Jeep brand, conveyed an interest in this segment. He said that although he realizes that the US market has had a rough time of being profitable, “globally it still seems to be an important sector.” Manley said that he is considering every opportunity to grow the brand but that he also has to stay true to Jeep’s heritage.

I would only be interested if it had a crew cab. I would love it if it had 6 seats.

I take it you have never seen a stretched Wrangler Unlimited with 2+2+2 seating.

We are a family of 5, With only 5 seats we can't take any family or friends with us. Center consoles are a waste of space, check out the full size Dodge fold down center console, that is an option all vehicles should have, If your single you can have the console.Simple.

I think it's a good move for Jeep. I hope they keep with the Gladiator concept, would make a great niche truck.

I hope a Jeep pickup is more Tacoma/Hilux sized and a worthy competitor. A Ram based Jeep would be a horrible idea.

I have fond memories of 4 wheeling in a Jeep J-10. There are many great 4WD trucks out there. They definitely need a niche truck.

You don't need a lift kit to go off road, the best off road vehicles are rock buggies, they have large 35-44in. tires with lots of wheel travel and they are not lifted at all, nothing comes close to them off road! The snorkel idea is great, how about make it float? lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9zz9JyRHoQ

Jeep needs to build this thing! I like way better than the H3t

The jeep will be better off road with the two solid axles, this Jeep needs the Hemmi to be competitive with the H-3,the Jeep's v-6 is too wimpy. We can assume it will have an off road option like the Rubicon and have two selectable lockers. Fox race shocks would be a great over kill with optional 35 inch tires to be competitive with the H-3T alfa.

If they would get rid of the V6 and put in a proper inline 6 that would be the first truck I'd look at If I were to ever be in the market for a pickup truck.
