EXCLUSIVE NEW YORK AUTO SHOW SPOTLIGHT: The car that has the Germans shaking in their boots

Forget April in Paris!

With temps like this in New York (78 today), We'll take the city and the New York auto show in April any day!

Not only was the temperature hot but so were the significant announcements…

We knew the Lexus LS600h L would be introduced but we didn’t know how truly impressive it would be!

Be sure to check out the really cool headlights on the 600 (different from the 460) and its safety radar system which includes a radar camera on the steering wheel that checks to make sure your eyes are on the road and if they're not, it can help stop you from hitting an obstacle!

If I was one of their competitors, I wouldn’t be sleeping comfortably.

Not just because of its technology and performance but because of the buzz it’s generating among the beautiful people.

Just start a conversation with anyone about cars at a party and it’s almost like the Germans products are obsolete.

You have to give Lexus credit.

They gambled and it’s paying off in spades.

It’s making everyone in their sights VERY nervous.

And it should.

But as much as we liked the 600h L, we think you’ll be surprised when we pick our favorite car at the show.

Look for it in tonight’s newsletter.

Special thanks to Lexus from AutoSpies.com and our readers for sponsoring our 2006 New York auto show gallery.

Enjoy our coverage!

Until I see the specs on this new Lexus, it's 2007 S-Class uber alles.

I love how everyone is debating Japanese vs. German cars and 001Buster compares cities.

First off, the Lexus 600h is like James Bond. It is suave, slick, and stately. It has has more technology than you can shake a stick out. So those of you who like Japanese vehicles or have no allegiance, there is another good choice for you on the market. I'm not going to bust on German car buyers but...come on guys, you knew the Japanese were going to catch up with your beloved German vehicles some day. Get over yourselves. Be happy that there is sooo much competition and sooo many great models to choose from.

On to cities...

I'm sorry, I've been to NY and Paris both. I wasn't feeling either of them. The Seine River and Notre Dame are nice but other than that it didn't ring my bell. I'm a Marylander so I have no allegiance (except D.C.) to either city.

My choice: Sydney, Australia

It looks okay. The S550 Mercedes looks more elegant.

I agree, Toyota/Lexus are good cars. HOWEVER, you cannot leave out Honda/Acura. They are just as reliable.
