Toyota to launch to new hybrid sports cars: MR2 and Supra
According to the latest reports it appears that Toyota is ready to built two hybrid sports cars: a successor to the MR2 and a reborn Supra.

First of all, we have the MR2 which is set to receive a hybrid powertrain based on a 1.5-liter petrol engine, just like the Honda CR-Z, which uses a 1.5-liter engine capable to deliver 102 hp but also an electric motor which develops an extra 20 hp. Apparently, the MR2, which will make its debut in 2013, was set to receive a V6 petrol engine but due to the success of the Honda CR-Z, Toyota changed its mind.

it looks kinda small to be the next supra but we will see cuz this is only a concept. I hope they come correct for the supra because the last generation was an icon for toyota

Sigh... I don't think people who buy Supra's or MR2's are that interested in having a hybrid engine weighing down the vehicles.

Sweet! Hopefully the don't look or drive anything like a Camry (fingers crossed, but expectations are low).

Toyota, sadly, doesn't know how to build a good sports car...at least they haven't for a while.

What's up with the 20hp motors? 50hp would be more like it. Or stop messing around and go with 100.

What makes me mad is that they ditched the V6 For a shitty performing hybrid system.

I wonder whether this will be watered down like most other concepts? Or will Toyota "wow" us with a heart stopping, gotta-have-it design?

No way........! If Toyota bring back the Toyota Supra and make as good looking as the Lexus LF-A and give it 450+ hp I would definitely get one for sure. And please make it rev and sound like the Lexus LF-A as well = )

Toyota need to put all of the technology and engineering from the Lexus LF-A into the coming Toyota Supra and price it right. Then Toyota should sell like it Hot Cake or Pancake or whatever you call it.

They use to build innovative cars that were ahead of there time. Hopefully they figure out that we don't want a hybrid sports car yet. We still don't have a clear answer as to how much the batteries are to replace or if its cheaper just to throw away the whole car. Think about what a 10 year old MR2 is worth and do you really want to throw a bunch of money at it.

Wow, is that front end ugly. The rest is fine, but the headlight-grille-bumper compilation is just awful.
