Kia expects the launch of its new Sportage to help boost output
The launch of Kia’s new Sportage SUV is expected to raise the output at its plant in Zilina, Slovakia, to pre-crisis levels, according to the company’s release.

Kia Motors Slovakia CEO In-Kyu Bae told reporters that it plans to build over 35,000 units of this SUV model in 2010. Sportage production at this factory will begin on July 28. Kia made a forecast that in 2010, the Slovakia plant will surpass 200,000 units. Last year, it only produced 150,020 vehicles. Before new-car sales had dropped as a result of the global economic crisis, the factory produced 201,000 units in 2008.
