Deal Of The Year: Tax Credits Will Make Midsized Sonata Hybrid Cheaper Than Base Model Prius
If you're shopping for a hybrid vehicle, time is drawing to a close to take advantage of the Federal government's hybrid tax credits. But before those credits expire at the end of 2010, there's one new hybrid you'll want to add to your shopping list: the upcoming 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.
It's expected to go on sale sometime in October or November, and Hyundai hopes to sell about 14,000 copies of its Sonata Hybrid annually, but the financial incentives to be an early adopter will be strong. In all, they could bring the price of the Sonata Hybrid down to about $21,000, which would make it significantly less expensive than a base 2010 Toyota Prius.

Hope it wont look like that!
Hyundai expects the Sonata Hybrid to check in at 36/40 mpg; the Fusion Hybrid is rated at 41/36 mpg.
Prious gives better economy but if I had to choose, given the size and features standard on the sonata, the benefits outweigh those of the prius.

Geez, who are these people who have so much time on their hands to go and create an account just to post like that?
@ignorantandbiased: I have plenty of work on this desk I could forward to you if you are that bored or have that much time on your hands.

What a shame, it seems "ignorantandbiased", "Vtwinturboguy", and "Bias009" are all the same person and got banned for not playing in my sandbox nicely.
Some people have too much time on their hands. It is fine to be critical but being personal will get you nowhere fast.
Thanks to those that called him out. At least most of us can at least agree to disagree. The openness to differences make you guys the core of the site.

I stand by my headline.

BTW: The majority of people will buy size and price combined over mileage. If you think not then you haven't been watching the sales data.

I think that there is a lot of pent up demand for a car with equal or better mileage than a Prius, as long as its not a Prius.
The Prius has become almost too strong of a moniker for being green and while a lot of people like the mileage, they don't like the green geek image.
Thus, I think that this Hyundai will be a winner (and don't forget, I hate Hyundai's).

With Hyundai's entry in the hybrid market, things are about to get interesting, yes indeed.
